14,000 Govt Posts in Education Sector to be Referred by Feb End, J&K Govt

Total Posts : 14,000+

Sector : Education Sector

Claiming infrastructure would accompany upgrading in the education sector for the first time in the last 30 years, the government on Monday said over 14,000 posts will be referred to the recruiting agencies by February end.

While over 11,000 posts would be referred to be filled in School Education Department, the rest of the posts would be filled in the Higher Education sector, Minister for Education, Syed Altaf Bukhari told The Kashmir Monitor.

In the proposed development of 400 schools, 200 high and middle schools each would be upgraded to higher  secondary and high schools respectively, Bukhari said.

On the higher education front, Bukhari said that over 1,100 posts would be referred to the recruiting agencies to be filled in the new 17 proposed colleges in the state with 70 posts meant for each college.
The education minister hoped that the colleges would be made functional in Kashmir and Jammu regions in the immediate academic session.

My endeavour would be to start the colleges in rented premises (to start with) in both the regions by March,” Bukhari said.

The priority while setting up the 17 colleges, he said, would be given “to those constituencies where there are no colleges”.

Those constituencies where the already set up colleges do not cater to the populace may also be considered.”
Over the completion of the recruitment process of the posts, Bukhari said, “This all, I anticipate will be completed positively within the next six months. “

Roughly, in the next 3 years” as per Bukhari, while Rs 1,200 crore would be spent on schools, there would be an expenditure of around Rs 1,500 crore per college in the state, he said.

This is excluding Rs 1-crore expenditure on the salary component,” he added.

While the Education Department’s “mission 2018” as per Bukhari would be “to upgrade the present infrastructure” in the education sector, “a simultaneous upgradation of institutions is also imperative,” he said.

Claiming “For the last thirty years, no upgradation of infrastructure has taken place in the sector,” Bukhari hoped that the present dispensation would develop infrastructure.

Even for the colleges built in 2011, there was no appropriate staff.
