Anantnag Encounter Update : 1 Militant Killed
Brief Exchange of firing in Anantnag District, Kashmir, J&K
Update : One Militant Body Recovered, Search Operation Continues .
One militant body was recovered after brief exchange of firing took place between militants and government forces in Nowgam area of Verninag in South Kashmir’s Anantnag district on Saturday. .
A senior Police officer told that one militant body was recovered from the encounter site after there was a brief exchange of firing with militants. .
The officer further said that since its a forest area it will take time to search for other hiding militants. .
As per the sources the slain militant has been identified as Iqbal Ahmad of Panzath, Dooru and is believed to be associated with JeM.
If reports are to believed the other militants might have escaped taking advantage of dense forest, however the area is still under cordon. .
Meanwhile mobile Internet has been suspended in parts of Anantnag for precautionary measures.(GNS)
Brief Exchange Of Firing In Verinag Village
Brief Exchange of firing took place between militants and government forces in Nowgam, area of Verinag of South Kashmir’s Anantnag district on Saturday morning.
A joint team of Army’s 19RR and SOG launched a cordon and search operation in Nowgam. .
A senior police officer told that forces laid siege around suspected spot after having credible inputs about presence of some militants. .
The officer further said that there was a brief exchange of firing between militants and forces. However right now there is no exchange firing from both sides but we have strengthened cordoned in the area and searches are going, the officer said.
