Jammu: 1 dead, several injured in Road mishap

In a horrible mishap, a man died and five others suffered injuries, when a vehicle in which they were travelling fell down in a gorge in Balnai village in Poonch on Wednesday.

As per sources, a Tata Magic tempo skidded bearing registration No. JK12A 6311 in Balni village of Poonch, following which one died and 5 injured, while one has been referred from Sub district hospital Mandi to District hospital Poonch.

However, after the mishap the hurt persons were rushed to Sub District Hospital Mandi and after receiving first aid they were taken to Raja Sukhdev Singh District Hospital, Poonch.

The deceased who died at the spot of incident has been identified as Mohd Rustam (55) s/o Ramzan Sheikh.

While the injured have been identified as Nahida Begum (35) wife of Mushtaq Ahmed, Pervaiz Akhter (40) wife of Mohd Saleem, Bashir Ahmed (42) son of Sultan Mohd, Burhan Ahmed (8) son of Mushtaq Ahmed, Mohd Tasveer s/o Mohd Saleem (14-15) r/o Bedar Balnai village of Poonch.

“We got information that a tempo met with accident and there is one casualty, while five others are hurt”, Superintendent of the Raja Sukhdev Singh District Hospital, Mr Zulafkar Ahmed said.

“The patients are shifted in which one lady namely Nahida Begum (35) has suffered spinal cord injury her tests are being taken and doctors are attending her”, he added.

“There is a kid among the patients who is 5-6 yrs of age he is okay as he has sustained minor injuries”, he said.

“There are two other patients who are critical, we will refer them from here if a need arises”, he remarked.

“Our medical team was ready, we thought that it will be a major mishap”, he asserted.
