Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday launched a scathing attack on the Ashok Gehlot government in Rajasthan and said sacked minister Rajendra Gudha’s “red diary” is the latest project of Congress’s ‘jhut ki dukaan’ (shop of lies) which will defeat the grand old party in the elections.
The “red diary” was recently produced in the state assembly by Gudha, who was sacked as minister after he questioned the Congress government’s performance in reining in crimes against women. Gudha had claimed that the diary contained details of the alleged irregular financial transactions of chief minister Gehlot.
Addressing a public rally in Sikar, PM Modi raised questions over Congress’s silence over the “red diary” and said that it will expose the black deeds of the party’s bigwigs.
The Prime Minister also accused the Congress is creating hurdles in the development work in the state.
“Our government has given over Rs 1.5 lakh crore to Rajasthan as a central grant. However, ever since the Congress came to power here, only hurdles are being created in the work of development,” PM Modi said.
He also targeted the Gehlot government over various recruitment paper leaks in the state and said a paper leak industry is running in Rajasthan.
PM Modi said that Congress is a directionless party and it should be removed from the government in order to save the youth of Rajasthan from the paper leak mafia.
“There is only one slogan this time — ‘Nahi Sahega Rajasthan’. Rajasthan will not tolerate atrocities on sisters and daughters,” the PM said.
“Today in Rajasthan, there is only one voice, one slogan — lotus will win, lotus will bloom,” he added.
‘Wish Ashok Gehlot a speedy recovery’
Meanwhile, PM Modi wished the Rajasthan chief minister a speedy recovery from his knee injury due to which he could not attend the event in Sikar today.
“He has been ill for a few days. I pray for his good health,” the Prime Minister said referring to the chief minister.
Ahead of the event, a major controversy erupted after Gehlot alleged that the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) had cancelled his speech at the Sikar event.
The Prime Minister’s Office (PMO), however, said it was informed by Gehlot’s office that he will not be able to attend the programme. It also said he was “most welcome” to join the programme.
‘Took decisions in the interests of farmers’
Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that the Centre has taken many decisions in the interest of the farmers in the last nine years and created new arrangements for them – right from seed to the market.
The Prime Minister inaugurated several development projects and said that his government stands shoulder to shoulder with the farmers of the country.
PM Modi dedicated 1.25 lakh PM Kisan Samriddhi Kendras (PMKSK) to the nation and launched Urea Gold- a new variety of Urea that is coated with Sulphur.
“The government today is honestly working for the farmers. PM-KISAN scheme is the world’s biggest scheme in which money is directly transferred to the accounts of farmers,” PM Modi said.
PM Modi launched the onboarding of 1500 Farmer Producer Organisations (FPOs) on Open Network for Digital Commerce (ONDC).
The 14th instalment amount of about Rs. 17,000 crores under the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN), was released through direct benefits transfer to more than 8.5 crore beneficiaries.
“I am fortunate to get the opportunity to inaugurate several developmental projects from Shekhawati, the land of bravehearts,” PM Modi added.
New schools and colleges
PM Modi also inaugurated six Eklavya Model Residential Schools located in Udaipur, Banswara, Pratapgarh and Dungarpur districts of Rajasthan.
He opened five new medical colleges at Chittorgarh, Dholpur, Sirohi, Sikar and Sri Ganganagar and lay the foundation stone for seven medical colleges at Baran, Bundi, Karauli, Jhunjhunu, Sawai Madhopur, Jaisalmer and Tonk.
The five medical colleges inaugurated by the Prime Minister have been developed at a cumulative cost of more than Rs 1400 crore, while the seven medical colleges whose foundation stone will be laid will be built at a cumulative cost of Rs 2275 crore.
The establishment of these 12 new medical colleges would increase the number of MBBS seats in the State to 6275 seats from 1750 seats in 2013-14, which would be a 258% increase
