74% pass class 12th BOSE exams
The Jammu and Kashmir Board of School Education (BOSE) Friday announced the results of the class 12th annual exams with a pass percentage of 74 percent.
A total of 93,340 students from across J&K appeared in the exams of which 69,385 successfully qualified it.
The girls outshone the boys and bagged the first three positions in all the streams – Science, Commerce, Home Science, and Arts.
The pass percentage for boys stood at 72 percent while for girls it was 77 percent.
A total of 46,550 boys appeared in the exams and 33,394 qualified while 46,786 girls appeared in the exams and 35,987 qualified.
This year, the results recorded an improvement of around 9 percent compared to last year wherein the pass percentage of the class 12th (annual-2023) examination was recorded as 64.59 percent.
However, there has been a decrease in the number of students appearing in the exams by 34,296.
BOSE said that 25,435 students (27 percent), including 15,049 girls and 10,386 boys secured distinction.
Furthermore, 33427 students (36 percent), including 16162 girls and 17274 boys qualified with first division.
A total of 10,318 students (4687 girls and 5628 boys) secured second division.
Another 195 students including 89 girls and 106 boys qualified in the third division.
A total of 1034 students (461 girls and 573 boys) failed in all the subjects.
Additionally, 22,921 students (10,338 girls and 12,583 boys) will have to reappear in the exams of some subjects.
A total of 19,857 girls and 16,169 boys from the Arts stream appeared in the exams of which 14,388 girls and 10,325 boys qualified successfully.
In the Commerce stream, 1512 girls and 3509 boys appeared in the exams with 1368 girls and 2774 boys qualifying it.
In the Science stream, 25,417 girls and 26,872 boys appeared in the exams with 20,231 girls and 20,295 boys declared qualified.
The examination of class 12th students was held from March 6 to March 28 in soft zone areas of J&K while the exam in hard zone areas was held from April 8 to May 11.
This was the second J&K Board examination conducted in March after the adoption of national academic calendar and implementation of National Education Policy (NEP)-2020 by the Jammu and Kashmir government.
TOPPERS IN SCIENCE
In the science stream, the first position has been bagged by Adeeba of Government Girls Higher Secondary School (GHSS) Nowhatta Srinagar by scoring 494 marks (98.8 percent) while the second position has been shared by five students – Aamina Rashid of GHSS Chadoora, Aisha Riyaz of GHSS Khanyar Srinagar, Jannat Afaq of GGHSS Soura Srinagar, Priya Kour of GHSS Chanapora, and Tooba Qadri of GHSS Hardushoora scoring 493 marks (98.6 percent) out of 500.
The third position has been shared by six students – Aarzoo Rafiq of GGHSS Soura Srinagar, Afreena Jan of Hajahad Public School Awantipora, Mahika Pandoh of Indira Memorial Higher Secondary School Rathian Udhampur, Namanpreet Singh of Oriental Academy Afghan Mohala Kacchi Chawni Jammu, Zaara Noor of Mallinson GGHSS Sheikhbagh Srinagar and Ziya Shabir of GGHSS Salar by scoring 492 (98.4 percent) marks out of 500.
TOPPERS IN COMMERCE
In the commerce stream, the first position has been shared by Anushah Gul and Wafa Feroz Kadla of Green Valley Educational Institute (GVEI) Ellahibagh Srinagar by scoring 498 (99.6 percent) marks while the second position was also shared by two GVEI students – Aida Omar and Mumin Showkat Kadla who have scored 493 (98.6 percent) marks.
The third position has been shared by Pooja Choudhary of Hiksha Niketan Higher Secondary School Jeevan Nagar Jammu and Saamiya Manzoor of GGHSS Sonwar Srinagar. Both the students have scored 491 (98.2 percent) marks out of 500.
TOPPERS IN ARTS
In the arts stream, the first position has been bagged by Basna Shah of GGHSS Kothibagh Srinagar scoring 495 (99 percent) marks out of 500.
The second position has been shared by Hoor Sajid of GVEI and Seidra Mukhtar of GHSS Arihal scoring 494 (98.8 percent) marks each.
The third position has been bagged by four students who scored 493 (98.6 percent) marks each. These are Athar Nabeela of GGHSS Rainbagh Anantnag, Faheem of Government MP HSS Srinagar, Sabira Ali and Sharmeen Shah of GVEI, Ellahibagh Srinagar.
TOPPERS IN HOME SCIENCE
In Home Science stream, the first position has been bagged by Ainain Niyazi of GGHSS Baramulla by scoring 494 (98.8 percent) marks.
The second has been secured by Aaliyah Parvez scoring 487 (97.4 percent) marks and the third position by Ruqiya Sultana of GGHSS Kothi Bagh Srinagar scoring 480 (96 percent) marks.
BOSE CHAIRMAN, SED FELICITATE SUCCESSFUL STUDENTS
Chairman BOSE, Prof Parikshat Singh Manhas congratulated the successful students.
“Gratitude to all those who have been instrumental in unifying the academic sessions of J&K-UT,” Chairman BOSE posted on X.
The School Education Department (SED) also congratulated all the class 12th students and stakeholders on the outstanding Board results.
“Your hard work and dedication have paid off, paving the way for a brighter future,” the SED posted on its official X handle.
