At 24.6°C, Srinagar records 3rd highest minimum temperature in 132 Years

Srinagar, July 28 (KB): As an unusual weather phenomenon, Srinagar recorded its third highest minimum temperature in 132 years, with the mercury not dropping below 24.6°C last night.

According to details collected by the Kashmir Bulletin (KB), this temperature is significantly higher than the average for this time of year, standing 5.8°C above normal.

This recent high adds to a historical pattern of rising minimum temperatures in Srinagar. The second highest all-time minimum temperature was recorded on July 26, 2021, at 24.8°C. The highest ever recorded minimum temperature remains 25.2°C, documented on July 21, 1988.

Patiently, today’s night temperature in Srinagar was comparable to the daytime temperatures usually experienced in mid-May. “At 8:30 a.m. in the morning, Real Feel temperature reached 29.8°C (28.0°C in actual with 63% Relative Humidity),”—(KB)
