On eve of October 7 attack, Hamas fires rockets from Gaza; 1 killed in terror attack in southern Israel

Hezbollah, backed by Iran, has been firing rockets into Israel in support of the Palestinians since Hamas’ October 7 attack. Last week, Israel launched a limited ground operation into southern Lebanon after attacks that killed prominent Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah. This is the worst fighting between the two sides since the 2006 war. Nine Israeli soldiers have been killed, and Israel claims to have killed 440 Hezbollah fighters.
Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi stated that efforts were being made to broker cease-fires in both Gaza and Lebanon. His comments followed praise from Iran’s supreme leader for recent missile strikes on Israel, with warnings that more could come.

Iran’s supreme leader Ayatollah Ali has decorated the Revolutionary Guards aerospace commander General Amirali Hajizadeh for the Islamic republic’s missile attacks Israel.
“Ayatollah Khamenei presented the Order of Fath (“Conquest” in Farsi) to General Amirali Hajizadeh, commander of the Guards Aerospace Force,” said Khamenei’s website.
The decoration was bestowed because of “the brilliant ‘Honest Promise’ operation”, the website said.
Hajizadeh, 62, has headed the Guards aerospace unit since its creation in 2009.
