Breetzke breaks record for highest score on ODI debut

4 – Breetzke became the fourth South African batter to score a century on debut after Colin Ingram, Temba Bavuma, and Reeza Hendricks. He is the 19th player overall to do so and the first to do it in on debut against New Zealand.

1– Breetzke became the first South African batter to score a 150 and ending up on the losing side. The previous highest by any South African batter on a losing cause was 144 by Temba Bavuma against West Indies in East London in 2023. 150 by Breetzke is the second highest individual score for a South African batter against New Zealand after Dave Callaghan’s unbeaten 169 in Centurion in 1994.

305 – The target of 305 chased by New Zealand is the third highest ever chased against South Africa in ODIs and the highest by New Zealand surpassing their chase of 298 in the semifinals of World Cup 2015 in Auckland. This is also the first instance of a team successfully chasing down a 300+ target against South Africa since February 2012
