Operation Sindoor lasted for 25 mins in Pakistan & PoK, says Col Sofiya Qureshi in govt briefing
Operation Sindoor Live: In the early hours of Wednesday, India launched ‘Operation Sindoor’, hitting terrorist infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir. Nine sites were targeted. Army said that India targeted the terror infrastructure from where terrorist attacks against India have been planned and directed.
“Our actions have been focused, measured and non-escalatory in nature. No Pakistani military facilities have been targeted. India has demonstrated considerable restraint in selection of targets and method of execution,” the Indian Army said.
“These steps come in the wake of the barbaric Pahalgam terrorist attack in which 25 Indians and one Nepali citizen were murdered. We are living up to the commitment that those responsible for this attack will be held accountable,” it said. “Our actions have been focused, measured and non-escalatory in nature. No Pakistani military facilities have been targeted. India has demonstrated considerable restraint in selection of targets and method of execution,” the statement said.
The attack claimed the lives of three civilians, according to the Indian Army, which said it is responding in a proportionate manner. “During the night of 06-07 May 2025, the Pakistan Army resorted to arbitrary firing, including artillery shelling from posts across the Line of Control and IB opposite J&K. Three innocent civilians lost their lives in indiscriminate firing/shelling. Indian Army are responding in a proportionate manner,” the Army said in an official statement.

Col Sofiya Qureshi briefs how the Indian Armed Forces targeted Gulpur terror camp, Kotli, which was situated 30kms away from LoC and a base of Lashkar-e-Taiba. This camp was active in Rajouri-Poonch region. The terrorists involved in April 20, 2023 attack in Poonch and June 9, 2024 attack on a bus of pilgrims were trained at this camp. Col. Sofiya Qureshi says, “Operation Sindoor was launched to give justice to victims of Pahalgam terrorist attack. Nine terrorist camps were targeted and destroyed.”
“Our intelligence indicated that further attacks against India are impending. Thus, compulsion, both to deter and prevent and hence earlier this morning, India exercised its right to respond to deter such more cross-border terrorism… Our actions were measured and non-escalatory, proportionate and responsible. They focused on dismantling terrorists’ infrastructure. Our intelligence indicated that further attacks against India are impending. Thus, compulsion, both to deter and prevent and hence earlier this morning, India exercised its right to respond to deter such more cross-border terrorism. Our actions were measured and non-escalatory, proportionate and responsible. They focused on dismantling terrorists’ infrastructure,” said foreign secretary Vikram Misri.
The attack in Pahalgam was marked with extreme barbarity, with the victims mostly killed with head shots at close range and in front of their family. The family members were deliberately traumatised through the manner of killing, accompanied by the exhortation that they should take back the message. The attack was clearly driven by the objective of undermining normalcy returning to Kashmir,” said foreign secretary Vikram Misri.
“A group called The Resistance Front (TRF) has claimed responsibility for Pahalgam attack. This group is connected with Lashkar-e Taiba. Pakistan links have been established in this attack. On April 25, Pakistan’s pressure to remove the reference to TRF from the media release shouldn’t be ignored. Pahalgam terrorist attack has exposed the links of Pakistan with terrorists.”
Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri says, “On 22 April 2025, terrorists related to LeT and Pakistan attacked tourists in Kashmir’s Pahalgam and killed 25 Indian nationals and 1 Nepali citizen… They shot tourists in the head in front of their family members. The family were threatened and told to convey the message of that barbarism. Since tourism was again flourishing in J&K, and hence the main aim of the attack was to damage that.”
