Jammu Kashmir First to Get PMGSY-IV Nod; Rs 4,224 Cr Cleared for 316 Road Projects
Jammu and Kashmir has become the first among all States and Union Territories to receive approval under the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana-IV (PMGSY-IV), with 316 road projects sanctioned at an estimated cost of Rs 4,224.23 crore.
According to official data, the sanctioned projects include 1,781 kilometres of road length and are expected to provide connectivity to 390 eligible habitations with populations above 250 persons.
Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Minister for Rural Development Shivraj Singh Chouhan for the sanction. He stated that the package is the largest ever granted to the Union Territory under PMGSY.
The Lieutenant Governor said the road projects will enhance the rural road network and improve access to remote areas. He noted that the initiative will aid economic and social development.
In a post on social media platform X, the Lieutenant Governor said: “Grateful to Hon’ble PM Shri Narendra Modi Ji & Hon’ble Union Minister of Rural Development Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan Ji for sanctioning 316 road projects at an estimated cost of Rs.4224 Cr under Batch-I of PMGSY-IV for providing connectivity to 390 no. of eligible habitations… The approved 1781 KMs road length will provide major boost to rural road connectivity.”
