Imposition of Complete Ban on Swimming, Bathing, Fishing and Roaming near Rivers and other Nallahs, waterfalls including school picnics in District Udhampur.
ORDER
Whereas, it has been observed that during the summer season people, especially youth and children, frequently engage in swimming, bathing, fishing, and roaming unnecessarily near the banks of the rivers and various other nallahs, including waterfalls, across District Udhampur;
Whereas, these water bodies are extremely hazardous due to strong undercurrents, unpredictable depth, and slippery terrain, thus posing a serious threat to human life;
Whereas, several tragic incidents have been reported in the past, resulting in the loss of precious human lives due to drowning and other water related mishaps;
Whereas, in the rainy season, there is every apprehension of an increase in the water level in local Nallahs which may pose an imminent threat to human life;
Whereas, in order to prevent any loss of human life and ensure public safety, it is essential to prohibit all such high-risk activities near water bodies;
Now, therefore, I, Saloni Rai, IAS, District Magistrate Udhampur, in exercise of powers conferred upon me under Section 163 BNSS, do hereby impose a complete ban on swimming, bathing, fishing, and roaming near rivers and other Nallahs/streams within the jurisdiction of District Udhampur, with immediate effect.
This order is issued in the interest of public safety and protection of human life and any person found violating this order shall be liable for strict legal action under the relevant provisions of law.
The Senior Superintendent of Police, Udhampur and concerned Sub- Divisional Magistrates, SDPOs, Tehsildars, Naib Tehsildars, SHOs and I/C Police Posts shall ensure strict implementation of this order in their respective jurisdictions.
Since, it is not possible to serve this order individually, it shall be circulated in print, electronic and social-media for information of all concerned and is hereby issued ex-parte.
