Security review meeting held in Srinagar on eve of sixth anniversary of Article 370 abrogation
At a high-level security review meeting here today on the eve of sixth anniversary of the abrogation of Article 370, Jammu and Kashmir Director General of Police, Nalin Prabhat, directed officers to increase surveillance on anti-national elements and area domination in their respective areas.
He also underscored the necessity of constantly reviewing and upgrading security plans to ensure smooth and peaceful conduct of upcoming events including the Independence Day.
He stressed the need to enhance the security of vulnerable targets and ensure foolproof security arrangements and directed the district heads to closely monitor social media platforms to prevent
any attempt to spread disinformation impacting public safety and order.
A police spokesman said the DGP was apprised of the prevailing security situation in the Union Territory by the Zonal Inspectors General and heads of various wings.
Senior officials from the intelligence wing also presented their assessments and briefed the DGP on developments.
During the meeting the officers discussed the recent security developments along with the current challenges viz-a-viz measures to counter these challenges.
The DGP emphasized the need to review and enhance the security plans and to design effective counter insurgency strategies for smooth and peaceful conduct of the events.
The meeting was attended by senior officials of police, central armed police force and intelligence officers.–(UNI)
