Weather Warning: J&K to See Heavy Rain, Storms Over Next 48 Hours

In Jammu and Kashmir, the Meteorological Department has issued a warning of heavy rain and thunderstorms across the Union Territory next two days. The weather agency also cautioned that the weather may trigger cloudbursts, flash floods, landslides, in vulnerable areas.

Weather department said parts of Jammu division, including Jammu, Reasi, Udhampur, Rajouri, Poonch, Samba, and Kathua are likely to receive heavy rainfall, while Doda, Kishtwar, Ramban, and some places in Kashmir division may witness moderate to intense showers with gusty winds.

People have been advised to avoid water bodies, streams, riverbanks, and unstable structures during this period. Travelers, transporters, tourists, and trekkers have also been urged to plan journeys carefully.

From August 20, weather is expected to turn hot and humid with brief thundershowers in some places, while a fresh spell of light to moderate rainfall is predicted across the Union Territory between August 23 and 25.
