JK Weather Update for one week

29 – 30 Aug: Mostly dry weather is expected in Kashmir. A few spots can receive showers for a short duration.
In Jammu region, particularly in its plains, monsoon showers are possible – short duration spells.

31 – 01 Sept: Rain showers are expected in many areas of Jammu and Kashmir. A few spots can receive short duration heavy showers as well. However, no continuous rains are expected. There will be large breaks between the spells as well.

General Advisories:
• Intense showers/cloudbursts can’t be ruled out which can trigger flash floods as well.
• Risk of shooting stones/Landslides on Jammu-Srinagar National Highway

Note:
There is no Flood Threat this time, as the upcoming rains will be much lower in intensity —likely not even reaching one-third of the strength of the previous spell. People can stay calm, go about their daily routines, and need not worry. Only the usual advisories remain in place since exact location and time of flash floods and cloudbursts, by nature, cannot be predicted.
