1. PM Modi’s Visit to Assam / Major Projects

   • Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated and laid the foundation stone for projects worth about ₹18,000 crore in Assam — part of the “Viksit Bharat, Viksit Assam” initiative.

   • He also inaugurated a polypropylene plant in Golaghat.

   • The Assam projects also include steps in sectors like energy, semiconductors, infrastructure etc.

2. Earthquake in Northeastern India

   • A magnitude 5.71 earthquake struck Assam (Northeastern India).

3. Voter Roll Matching in Punjab

   • Ahead of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the electoral rolls, Punjab has begun matching the current voter roll with the previous SIR. This exercise aims to improve accuracy and ensure full voter coverage.

4. Global Capability Centres (GCC) Policy Proposal by CII

   • The Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) is pushing for a National GCC Policy that aims to make India a global hub for innovation-driven Global Capability Centres.

   • The target is to generate $600 billion in economic value and 20-25 million jobs by 2030.

5. Two-Day National Conference on Women Empowerment in Tirupati

   • To be held on 14-15 September. Organized by Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, the conference will bring together women parliamentarians, legislators, social activists etc. It will focus on issues around women’s empowerment and the role of legislative and parliamentary committees.

6. Hindi Diwas / Hindi Day

   • 14 September is observed annually as Hindi Diwas, marking the day in 1949 when the Constituent Assembly adopted Hindi in Devanagari script as one of the official languages of the Union of India.

7. Quad’s Focus on Terror Technology

   • The QUAD (India, USA, Japan, Australia) has identified addressing tech-enabled threats posed by terrorist groups (e.g. misuse of drones, encrypted communications, cyber tools) as a priority.
