Record Rain & Flooding in Kolkata
Kolkata and its surrounding areas experienced record rainfall (around 251.6 mm in 24 hours), the heaviest since 1988. At least 12 people died (many by electrocution and drowning), roads were submerged, and major disruptions happened in transport, power supply etc. Schools closed; festival preparations (Durga Puja) damaged.

Ladakh Statehood Agitation Called Off (After Protests)
Activist Sonam Wangchuk ended his hunger strike demanding statehood for Ladakh, following violent protests in Leh. He asked the youth to maintain peace and urged government engagement.

Retirement of MiG-21 Jets (IAF)
After ~60 years of service, the Indian Air Force is retiring its iconic MiG-21 jets on 26 September 2025. The aircraft has been part of major conflicts (1965, 1971, Kargil, Balakot). Its last flypast is planned to mark the end of its service.

NEET-PG 2025 Transparency Hearing Deferred
The Supreme Court deferred its hearing on a petition seeking greater transparency in the NEET-PG 2025 admissions/results process. The hearing is now scheduled for 26 September 2025.
