1. Record smartphone exports
Ashwini Vaishnaw (Union Minister for Electronics & IT) highlighted that India’s smartphone exports reached US $1.8 billion in the last month, making electronics now the third largest export-category for India.
Why it matters: Shows a strong push in the electronics manufacturing & export sector, aligning with the “Make in India” / “Atmanirbhar Bharat” agenda.
Implication: More jobs, stronger supply-chain ecosystem, and reduced import-dependence.
2. Major tri-service exercise–NOTAM issued
A Notice to Airmen (NOTAM) has been issued for Exercise Trishul 2025 — a major tri-service (Army+Navy+Air Force) exercise along India’s western border (with Pakistan) scheduled for 30 October-10 November 2025.
Why it matters: Reflects India’s defence posture, deterrence readiness and multi-service operational coordination.
**Watch-out:** The scale and nature of the air‐space restriction (up to ~28,000 feet) suggests a heavy-axis of air-force involvement.
3. Electoral roll / voter list revision update
The Election Commission of India (EC) is set to begin the second phase of its Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls across 12 states / UTs from November 4.
Why it matters: This is a major democratic exercise—updating voter lists can affect representation, electoral integrity and political landscape.
Implication: States/UTs covered should vigilantly prepare for field-work; political parties may intensify outreach.
