28th November 2025 Daily Current Affairs

🏛️ National & Policy

The government has approved a major scheme to boost manufacturing of rare-earth permanent magnets — the approved outlay is ₹7,280 crore under a plan to build integrated capacity of 6,000 MTPA covering full value chain: rare-earth oxide to finished magnets. This is aimed at supporting EVs and renewable-energy sectors.

The first advance estimates for Kharif 2025-26 indicate India’s total food-grain production at 173.33 million tonnes. Rice production alone is estimated at over 124 million tonnes — about 1.73 million tonnes higher than last year.

In the state-governance front, the government of Andhra Pradesh approved the formation of three new districts — raising the total from 26 to 29. Along with new districts, several new revenue divisions and a new mandal have been approved to improve local administration.

🚀 Science, Technology & Defence

The Technology Development Board (TDB) under the Department of Science & Technology (DST) approved funding to a domestic firm to commercialize indigenous EV-chargers, including AC and DC fast chargers — supporting “Atmanirbhar Bharat” push and expansion of India’s electric mobility ecosystem.

Defence & strategic cooperation: The joint exhibition of enhanced cooperation and military exercises continues between India and its partners.

🌐 International / Global & Economic

Under the India–UAE Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA), India and UAE held the 3rd Joint Committee Meeting in New Delhi. The talks covered market-access issues, trade facilitation, gold TRQ allocation, services, and certification norms, reaffirming trade and economic partnership between the two countries.

🎭 Culture & Events

The 56th International Film Festival of India (IFFI 2025) concluded in Panaji, Goa on 28 November. The festival — held from 20 to 28 November — screened over 240 films from 81 countries, including several world and international premieres.

28 November is also observed as Red Planet Day, commemorating the launch of Mariner 4 in 1964 — the first successful interplanetary mission that sent close-up images of the surface of Mars. The day promotes interest in space science and astronomy.

🧑‍💼 Governance & Others

There were major enforcement actions: The Enforcement Directorate (ED) carried out raids across medical colleges and private premises in 10 states concerning a bribery case — involving some high-level former officials from regulatory bodies and the health ministry.

Air-quality in Delhi-NCR improved, and the GRAP Phase III restrictions have been lifted — though the region still requires vigilance due to pollution.

🎯 Big Picture: What to Read / Remember

Focus on developments in clean-energy infrastructure (rare-earth magnets, EV chargers), which reflect India’s push for self-reliance and green transition.

Keep track of agriculture estimates (food-grain production), relevant for understanding food security, rural economy, and policy shifts.

In world affairs and trade — India’s continuing engagement via CEPA with UAE shows emphasis on strengthening economic diplomacy and trade ties.

Cultural & global events like IFFI and Red Planet Day reflect India’s engagement with global cinema and global science outreach, helpful for holistic awareness.
