Power Minister Manohar Lal reviews key hydropower projects during two-day J&K visit
Union Power Minister Manohar Lal on Monday concluded a two-day visit to Jammu and Kashmir to review the progress of major hydropower projects in the region.
On the first day of his visit, the Minister reviewed the Salal, Sawalkot and Ratle hydropower projects. Late in the evening, he arrived at NHPCโs Dulhasti Power Station in Kishtwar, where he was received by Sanjay Kumar Singh, Director (Projects), NHPC, Ramesh Mukhiya, Managing Director of Chenab Valley Power Projects Limited (CVPP), and senior officials from NHPC and CVPP.

On the second day, Manohar Lal inspected all three CVPP projects currently under construction โ Pakal Dul (1,000 MW), Kiru (624 MW) and Kwar (540 MW). He held a detailed review meeting with project heads and contractors, during which the Chairman and Managing Director of NHPC briefed him on various technical and implementation aspects of the projects.
Following the review, the Minister directed that the Pakal Dul and Kiru projects be commissioned by December 2026, while the Kwar project should be completed by March 2028.

During his visit, the Power Minister also interacted with local residents and workers at various project sites, patiently hearing their concerns and issues. He appreciated the efforts of engineers, personnel and workers for continuing work under challenging conditions and extended his best wishes to them for the timely completion of the projects.
