All candidates appearing for recruitment examinations conducted by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) will now be verified through facial authentication at examination centres, officials announced on Saturday.

UPSC conducts several competitive recruitment examinations for central government services, including the Civil Services Examination, which selects officers for the Indian Administrative Service (IAS), Indian Foreign Service (IFS), and Indian Police Service (IPS), among others.
The Commission had earlier tested the technology through a pilot project during the NDA and Naval Academy (II) Examination 2025 and the Combined Defence Services (CDS II) Examination 2025, held on September 14, 2025.
The trial was carried out at selected centres in Gurugram, where candidates’ live facial images were digitally compared with the photographs uploaded during the application process.
