However, in a dramatic development, the General Administrative Department (GAD) tonight appointed Secretary JKBOSE, Ghulam Hassan Sheikh, as interim chairman of the BOSE paving way for declaration of results of 10th and 12th standards.
โIn the exercise of powers conferred by sub-section (1) of section 12 of Jammu and Kashmir Board School Education Act, 1975 (Act No. XXVIII of 1975) the Government hereby orders that Ghulam Hassan Sheikh, Secretary J&K Board of School Education, shall discharge the functions of Chairman, J&K Board of School Education, in addition to his own duties, as an interim arrangement, till further orders,โ read the GAD order.
The announcement of the declaration of results has come as a sigh of relief for tens of thousands of parents and students who were eagerly waiting for it. It may be mentioned here that the result of 10th standard was ready by the first week of January and that of 12th standard was ready last week.
The result declaration was in limbo as the JKBOSE was without a Chairman after the retirement of Shantmanu who was holding charge of Chairman till December 31, 2025. The Government led by the Chief Minister Omar Abdullah had sent a proposal for the appointment of Chairman BOSE but it was not approved by the Lt Governor.
Chairman of the JKBOSE, Ghulam Hassan Sheikh, told Excelsior that he is holding a meeting with members of the result committee of the JKBOSE at 12 noon. The meeting besides Chairman will be attended by Director School Education Jammu, Naseem Javid Choudhary; Director School Education Kashmir, Naseer Ahmad Wani, Joint Secretaries of the BOSE, Abdul Gani Dar and Ashok Kumar. He said that after the necessary formalities, results of the two classes will be declared on January 14.
