J&K Govt Reviews Private School Fees After Complaints
Constitution of the Committee for examining the issues of fees charged by Private Schools.
Government Order No.: 33-JK (EDU) of 2026 Dated: 20.01.2026
Sanction is hereby accorded to the constitution of a committee under the Chairmanship of Secretary, JKBOSE, J&K, with the following officers as its members, for examining the issues of fee charged by the Private Schools, and the cost of books, uniforms, shoes, etc. provided by the schools to the students:
1.) Additional Secretary to the Government, School Education Department – Member
2.) Joint Director, Central Kashmir School Education Department – Member Secretary
3.) Administrative Officer, FFRC, J&K UT – Member

The committee shall examine whether the fees charged by Private Schools, as well as the costs of books, uniforms, shoes, etc. provided by these schools to students, are based on certain verifiable matrices and have a sound justifiable basis.
Further, the committee shall also examine and verify the circumstances and legal basis under which the Fee Fixation and Regulation Committee (FFRC) has mandated payment of transportation fees during the winter vacation in the Kashmir Division.
The committee shall submit a detailed report in this regard, including justification, statutory backing, and past practice, to the Administrative Department within a period of thirty (30) days.
