Short Service Commission (NT) Course for Law Graduates (Men & Women)

Type of Entry :

Short Service Entry (JAG) – 124 Course

Age Limit

Candidates must be 21 to 27 years as on 01 July 2026.

Open For

Unmarried Male and Unmarried Female candidates who are Law Graduates.

Educational Qualification

Candidates must have a minimum of 55% aggregate marks in their LLB Degree.
They should have appeared for the CLAT PG Examination – 2025.

Selection Process :

The selection process includes the following stages:
Application → Shortlisting → SSB Interview → Medical Examination → Merit List → Joining Letter

Shortlisting for SSB :

Shortlisting will be done based on CLAT PG score.
Expected shortlisting timeline: Second week of March 2026.

SSB Interview Duration & Dates :

SSB Interview will be conducted for up to five days during May / June 2026.
Choice of SSB Centre and dates will be open for two weeks in May.

Medical Standards :

Medical standards will be applicable as prescribed on the official Indian Army website (www.joinindianarmy.nic.in).

Pre-Commission Training Academy

Selected candidates will undergo training at the Officers Training Academy (OTA), Chennai.

Duration of Training

The training duration is 49 weeks, starting from October 2026.

Stipend During Training :

A stipend of ₹56,100 per month will be paid during the training period.

Rank After Training

On successful completion of training, candidates will be commissioned as Lieutenant.

Salary on Commissioning

The approximate CTC is ₹17–18 lakh per annum.

Type of Commission

Short Service Commission (SSC).

Options for Release

Candidates may opt for release:

First option: After 5 years

Second option: After 10 years

Third option: After 14 years

Option for Permanent Commission

Permanent Commission can be opted after 10 years of service.

Release benefits will be applicable depending on the length of service at the time of release.

Important Dates – Online Application

Online applications will open on 27 January 2026 at 1500 hours and will close on 27 February 2026 at 1500 hours.
