Regards: Kashmir Weather Forecast
Rainfall is already underway in several areas, and satellite/visual observations show further enhancement of cloud mass, with increasingly dark, dense cloud cover spreading across parts of the Valley.
A notable feature at present is directional wind shear:
▪︎ Lower clouds (base level) are moving towards northwest
▪︎ Upper clouds are drifting towards southeast
This opposite movement of winds at different levels indicates a highly dynamic and unstable atmosphere.
● What this suggests:
The presence of strong vertical wind shear is helping clouds to grow vertically and sustain themselves. This supports continuous rain spells, and at places, intensification into moderate to heavy showers.
Embedded convection cannot be ruled out, meaning brief intense bursts or hail/gusty winds may occur in pockets.
● For Central Kashmir & Pulwama:
With thick cloud cover already in place, conditions are favorable for rain to persist and expand
Nearby areas are likely to see spillover of precipitation, especially where cloud bands are densest.
Intermittent moderate/heavy showers with occasional intensification are possible over the next few hours.
