Advertisement Notice for Contractual Assistant Professor
Online applications are invited from eligible candidates for engagement as Contractual Assistant Professor on academic arrangement in the Department of Philosophy for teaching, research and allied academic activities.
Faculty Engagement at GMC Jammu
Eligibility :
(i) A Master‘s degree with 55% marks or an equivalent grade in a point-scale wherever the grading system is followed in a concerned / relevant / allied subject from an Indian University, or an equivalent degree from an accredited foreign university.
(ii) Ph D Degree awarded in accordance with the University Grants Commission (Minimum Standards and Procedure for Award of M.Phil./Ph.D Degree) Regulations, 2009 or 2016 and their amendments from time to time as the case OR
The Ph.D degree has been obtained from a foreign university/institution with a ranking among top 500 in the World University Ranking (at any time) by any one of the following :
(i) Quacquarelli Symonds (QS)
(ii) the Times Higher Education (THE) or
(iii) the Academic Ranking of World Universities (ARWU) of the Shanghai Jiao Tong University (Shanghai).
II. Emoluments : 50,000/- per month

The engagement is initially for the year 2026 ending 31st December, or till the post is filled on substantive basis (whichever is earlier) and is extendable on the basis of annual performance appraisal by the University based on the recommendations of the concerned Head of the Department, Student feedback, requirement and other

As per norms of the university governing such engagements.
How to Apply :
Eligible candidates shall apply online and pay the requisite fee of Rs 500/- and thereafter submit the hard copy of the application form along with self-attested copies of the documents and certificates in the office of Head of the Department on any working day by or before the last date for submission. The candidature of those who fail to submit the hardcopies shall not be considered.
Screening / Shortlisting / Selection Procedure :
The shortlisting of the candidates for interview shall be made as per the criteria and, “20 candidates shall be shortlisted for one post and 05 candidates for every additional post”, and the final selection shall be made strictly in terms of the UGC Regulations 2018 (Interview only).
Further, the panel recommended by the selection committee shall be valid for one year and in the event of any vacancy during that period due to the resignation or any other reason, the vacancy shall be filled from the panel

Last date of submission of online application forms : 12-04-2026 (Sunday) upto 04:00 pm
Last date of submission of hard copy of the form : 13-04-2026 (Monday)
Terms and Conditions :
1. Candidates are required to apply online through University website www.iust.ac.in. No other means/ mode of application will be accepted. The non – refundable fee of Rs. 500/- (Rupees five hundred only) shall have to be deposited as application fee through online mode by debit card / credit card/ net banking. The instructions for
filling of online application are available on University website.
2. The candidates are advised to fill up the online application form carefully. Information not provided under the relevant heads / columns shall not be considered.
3. Candidates will have to produce original documents relating to their qualification, experience etc. at the time of appearing in the interview.
4. No TA/DA shall be paid to candidates for appearing in the interview
5. The time taken by candidates to acquire PG / M.Phil and /or Ph.D degree shall not be considered as teaching /research experience. The period of active service spent on pursuing Research Degree simultaneously with teaching assignment without taking any kind of leave (Part time), shall be counted as teaching experience
subject to the submission of certificate to this effect issued by the concerned employer.
6. Qualifications / Experiences shall be counted as on the last date of submission of the application forms.
7. Any publications in predatory / dubious journals or presentations in predatory / dubious conferences shall not be considered for academic credit for selection & confirmation.
8. An undertaking is to be given by the candidate stating that ‘the publications submitted by him / her are free from any plagiarism and if any plagiarism is found later, his / her candidature/selection shall stand rejected’.
9. In case of any disputes /suites or legal proceedings against the University, the jurisdiction shall be confined to the court of Srinagar only
10. The engagement of the recommended candidates shall be subject to the outcome of the writ petition(s) (if any) pending in the Hon’ble Courts of J&K.
