4.6 Magnitude Earthquake Jolts Doda in J&K, No Immediate Damage Reported

An earthquake of magnitude 4.6 on the Richter scale struck Doda district of Jammu and Kashmir in the early hours of Sunday, the National Centre for Seismology said.

The tremor occurred at 4:32 am at a shallow depth of 10 kilometres, with the epicentre located at latitude 33.090 N and longitude 75.928 E.

In a post on X, the National Centre for Seismology provided details of the seismic activity, noting the location and depth of the quake. There were no immediate reports of damage or casualties.

According to the United States Geological Survey, earthquakes are classified based on their depth into shallow (0–70 km), intermediate (70–300 km), and deep (300–700 km) categories.
