TRAFFIC PLAN & ADVISORY FOR 03-05-2026
From 01-05-2026, 1600 hrs to 02-05-2026, 1600 hrs, slow traffic movement was observed on NH-44 due to single-lane conditions between Marog and Kishtwar Patheri.
In addition to the breakdown of an HMV near Kishtwar Patheri and the movement of 08 non-load HMV’s, traffic on the single-lane stretch from Marog to Kishtwar Patheri is likely to slow down. Commuters are advised to follow lane discipline and avoid overtaking.
In view of the move of offices and to facilitate the smooth and hassle-free movement of the convoy of Secretary of the Government from Jammu to Srinagar, no movement of goods carriers (HMVs/MMVs) shall be allowed on the Jammu–Srinagar NH (NH-44) on 3rd May, 2026 (Sunday). Furthermore, no goods carriers (HMVs/MMVs) shall be allowed from Jakheni (Ramban), Udhampur, Chenani, Srinagar, etc., after 2400 hrs on 2nd May, 2026 (intervening night of 2nd/3rd May, 2026).
Passenger/LMV operators are advised to prefer journey on Jammu–Srinagar NHW during daytime. Night travel should be avoided due to the apprehension of shooting stones/landslides, movement of nomads towards valleys as well as ongoing construction work between Ramban and Banihal which may cause inconvenience to commuters.
NH-44 (NHW)
Subject to fair weather and better road conditions, tomorrow only Passenger LMVs/HPS/private cars shall be allowed to ply from both sides on the Jammu–Srinagar NHW (NH-44), i.e., from Jammu towards Srinagar and vice versa. HMVs shall be allowed from Jakheni (Udhampur) towards Srinagar and from Qazigund towards Jammu only after the convoy of Secretariat employees crosses the Navyug Tunnel. Commuters are advised to follow lane discipline; overtaking and wrong-lane driving will cause congestion. TCU Jammu and TCU Srinagar shall coordinate with TCU Ramban regarding road conditions.
Kishtwar–Sinthan–Anantnag NH-244
As per order issued by the SDM Chatroo vide No. SDM/CO/2026/2721 dated 13-04-2026 and the SDM Kokernag vide No. SDM/KNG/2025-2694 dated 14-04-2026, subject to fair weather and road conditions, after clearance from road maintenance agencies (BRO/BEACON), LMVs (Passenger/Private Cars) shall be allowed to ply from Srinagar towards Kishtwar via Sinthan Pass. These vehicles shall be allowed from Daksum between 1000 hrs to 1500 hrs. No vehicle shall be allowed after 1500 hrs. TCU Jammu/TCU Srinagar will inform concerned about the clearance.
SSG ROAD
Subject to fair weather and good road conditions, after receiving green signal from road maintenance agencies, LMVs shall be allowed to ply from Srinagar towards Kargil on the Srinagar–Sonamarg–Gumri road. In view of the apprehension of avalanches along the Zojila axis, the vehicular shall be allowed to move from Sonamarg towards Kargil only after receiving green signal from the road maintenance agencies and no vehicle shall be allowed beyond the Sonamarg road. TCU Srinagar and PCR Kargil will inform all concerned about the cut-off timing. SSG Convoy moving from Srinagar towards Kargil shall plied in movement in such a manner so that traffic remains uninterrupted.
Mughal Road
As per the orders issued by the District Magistrate, Shopian vide No. DMS/ADM/SP/25-26/2685 dated 22-04-2026 and the District Magistrate, Poonch vide No. DMP/5-79-61 dated 22-04-2026, subject to fair weather and good road conditions, vehicular movement (LMVs) shall be allowed from Shopian towards Poonch and vice versa. No vehicle shall be allowed beyond Heerpora (Shopian) towards Poonch after 1000 hrs and beyond Poonch towards Shopian after 1100 hrs. No HMVs shall be allowed on Mughal Road. TCU Jammu and TCU Srinagar shall coordinate with TCU Rajouri regarding the cut-off timings.
