TRAFFIC PLAN & ADVISORY FOR 04-05-2026
From 02-05-2026, 1600 hrs to 03-05-2026, 1600 hrs, a slow traffic movement was observed on NH-44 due to single-lane conditions between Marog and Khuni Nallah. In addition, the breakdown of an HMV at Marog and the movement of 40 nomadic herds (Chinkashan–Banihal). Owing to ongoing movement of 02 nomadic herds, traffic on the single-lane stretch from Marog to Khuni Nallah is likely to slow down. Commuters are advised to follow lane discipline and avoid overtaking.
Passengers/LMV operators are advised to prefer journey on Jammu–Srinagar NHW during daytime. Night travel should be avoided due to the apprehension of shooting stones/landslides; movement of nomadic towards valley as well as ongoing construction work between Ramban and Banihal, which may cause inconvenience to commuters.
NH-44 (NHW)
Subject to fair weather and better road conditions, LMVs/Passenger/PSVs/Private Cars/HMVs (goods carriers) shall be allowed from both sides on Jammu–Srinagar NHW (NH-44) viz. Jammu towards Srinagar and vice-versa. Commuters are advised to follow lane discipline, overtaking, wrong-lane driving will cause congestion. TCU Jammu/Srinagar shall coordinate with TCU Ramban regarding the road condition.
SFA Convoy Movement
Subject to fair weather and good road conditions, Security Forces vehicles shall be allowed from both sides on Jammu–Srinagar NHW (NH-44) viz. Jammu towards Srinagar and vice-versa. They shall move after confirming the status of NHW from TCU Ramban.
Kishtwar–Sinthan–Anantnag NH-244
As per order issued by the SDM Chatro vide No. SDM/2026-27/627-61 dated 13-04-2026, and the SDM Kokernag vide No. SDM/KNG/2025-26/98-101 dated 14-04-2026, subject to fair weather and good road condition, ATRC Kishtwar shall allow road maintenance agencies (NHIDCL) only LMVs/Passenger/Private Cars to ply from Kishtwar towards Srinagar via Sinthan Top. These vehicles shall be allowed from PP Panzal between 1000 hrs to 1500 hrs. No vehicle shall be allowed after cut-off timing. TCU Jammu/Ramban/TCU Srinagar will inform all concerned about the cut-off timing.
SSG ROAD
Subject to fair weather and good road condition, after receiving green signal from the road maintenance agencies, LMVs followed by HMVs shall be allowed to ply from Kargil towards Srinagar on Srinagar–Sonamarg–Gumri road. In view of apprehension of avalanches along the Zojila axis, these vehicles shall be allowed to move from Minamarg towards Srinagar only after receiving green signal from the road maintenance agencies and no vehicle shall be allowed after 1030 hrs. Motorists are advised to carry anti-skid chains to gain more grip on the slippery road. TCU Srinagar and PCR Kargil will inform all concerned about the cut-off timing. SF convoy moving from Kargil towards Srinagar shall plan their movement in such a manner so that Civil Traffic does not get disturbed.
Mughal Road
As per the orders issued by the District Magistrate, Shopian vide No. DM/SDM-PS/25-26/85-86 dated 22-04-2026, and the District Magistrate, Poonch vide No. DM/PJ/376-91 dated 22-04-2026, subject to fair weather and good road conditions, vehicular movement (LMVs followed by HMVs up to 6 tyres only) shall be allowed on Mughal Road from both sides, i.e., from Poonch towards Shopian and vice-versa. These vehicles shall be allowed from Chandimar (Buffliaz) towards Shopian between 0900 hrs and 1700 hrs, and from Heerpora (Shopian) towards Poonch between 1000 hrs and 1700 hrs, after obtaining clearance from the road maintenance agency (GREF). No vehicle shall be allowed after the cut-off timing. TCU Jammu and TCU Srinagar shall inform all concerned about the cut-off timings.
