JK National Highway Traffic Updates for 07-05-2026
From 05-05-2026, 1600 hrs to 06-05-2026, 1600 hrs, slow traffic movement was observed on NH-44 due to single-lane conditions between Marog and Kishtwari Pather, in addition to breakdown of 02 HMV at Mehad and Nachlana, and the movement of 14 nomadic herds (crossing Nachlana–Banihal).
Owing to ongoing movement of 03 nomadic herds, traffic on the single-lane stretch from Marog to Kishtwari Pather is likely to move slow. Commuters are advised to follow lane discipline and avoid overtaking.
Passengers/LMV operators are advised to prefer journey on Jammu–Srinagar NH-44 during daytime. Night travel should be avoided due to the apprehension of shooting stones/landslides. Movement of nomads towards valley as well as ongoing construction work between Ramban and Banihal may cause inconvenience to commuters.
NH-44 (NHW)
Subject to fair weather and better road conditions, LMVs, passenger/HPVs/private cars, HMVs (good carrier) shall be allowed from both sides on Jammu–Srinagar NHW (NH-44) via Banihal.
LMVs shall also be allowed from Jammu side after checking vehicle fitness. Commuters are advised to follow lane discipline, avoid overtaking, and avoid lane driving that may cause congestion. TCU Jammu/Srinagar shall coordinate with TCU Ramban regarding the road condition.
SFs Convoy Movement
Subject to fair weather and good road condition, Security Forces vehicles shall be allowed from both sides on Jammu–Srinagar NHW (NH-44) via Banihal.
They shall move after confirming the status of road condition from Traffic Control Units.
Kishtwar – Sinthan – Anantnag (NH-244)
As per order issued by the SDM Chatroo vide No. SDM/C/2026/27/149-58 dated 05-05-2026 and the SDM Kokernag vide No. SDM/KNG/26-27/201-202 dated 01-05-2026, subject to fair weather and good road condition, after getting green signal from road maintenance agencies (NHCL), only LMVs/passenger/private cars shall be allowed to ply from Srinagar towards Kishtwar via Daksum–Sinthan Top.
These vehicles shall be allowed from Daksum between 1030 hrs to 1530 hrs. No vehicle shall be allowed after cut-off timing.
TCU Jammu/Ramban/Kishtwar shall inform all concerned about the cut-off timing.
SSG ROAD
Subject to fair weather and good road condition (after receiving green signal from road maintenance agencies), LMVs followed by HMVs shall be allowed to ply from Srinagar towards Kargil on Srinagar–Sonamarg–Gumri road.
In view of the apprehension of avalanches along the Zoji La axis, these vehicles shall be allowed to move from Sonamarg towards Kargil only after receiving green signal from the road maintenance agencies and after checking of road conditions.
Motorists are advised to carry anti-skid chains to negotiate the slippery road. TCU Srinagar and PCR Kargil will ensure convoy movement from Srinagar towards Kargil shall plan their movement in such a manner so that TCU Traffic does not get disturbed
Mughal Road
As per the orders issued by the District Magistrate, Shopian vide No. DMS/APs/25-26/2785 dated 22-04-2026 and the District Magistrate, Poonch vide No. DMPJ/376-91 dated 23-04-2026, and subject to fair weather and good road conditions, vehicular movement (LMVs) followed by HMVs up to 18 tons gross only shall be allowed from Buffliaz towards Shopian and vice versa.
These vehicles shall be allowed from Chandimarh (Buffliaz) towards Shopian between 0900 hrs and 1700 hrs, and from Heerpora (Shopian) towards Poonch between 1000 hrs and 1800 hrs, after obtaining clearance from the road maintenance agency (GREF).
No vehicle shall be allowed after the cut-off timings. TCU Jammu and TCU Srinagar shall inform all concerned regarding the cut-off timings.
