A total of 90 vacancies have been announced for the Technical Entry Scheme (TES-56) course commencing January 2027. The vacancies are provisional and subject to change depending on training capacity at Cadets Training Wings (CTWs) and organizational requirements.

Eligibility Criteria :
Candidates must fulfill all eligibility conditions as on the closing date of online application (12-06-2026). Only unmarried male candidates who have passed 10+2 with PCM subjects from a recognized  education board and appeared in JEE (Mains) 2026 are eligible to apply. Knowledge of Bengali or Kokborok is not applicable for this entry. Candidates must possess the prescribed minimum qualification on the closing date of application submission; admission at all stages is provisional and subject to eligibility verification.

Age Limit :
A candidate must not be below 16½ years and above 19½ years on the first day of the month in which the course is due to commence i.e. 01 January 2027. The candidate should not be born before 01 July 2007 and not after 01 July 2010 (both days inclusive). Only the date of birth as recorded in the Matriculation/Secondary School Examination (10th) certificate will be accepted; no other document relating to age will be accepted.

There is no application fee mentioned in the official notification for the Indian Army TES-56 Recruitment 2026. Candidates are advised to visit the official website www.joinindianarmy.nic.in for any updates regarding fee. Applications must be submitted online only and no hard copy of the application is to be sent to the Directorate General of Recruiting.
Selection Process
The selection process for Indian Army TES-56 Recruitment 2026 consists of multiple successive stages – shortlisting of applications based on JEE Mains CRL, SSB Interview (five days), Medical Examination, Merit List, and finally issuance of Joining Letter. Candidates who qualify the SSB will be called for Medical Examination. The final merit list is based solely on marks obtained in the SSB Interview.
Merely qualifying at the SSB interview does not confirm final selection. If any candidate fails to report at the allotted CTW within 07 days from the allotted date of reporting, their candidature will be cancelled and the next candidate in merit will be upgraded to fill the vacancy.

Stage 3 – Medical Examination

| Merit list prepared solely on the basis of marks obtained in SSB Interview. Higher educational qualifications, previous performances, NCC background etc. have no role in finalization of merit list. Joining Letters issued subject to vacancies and medical fitness. |

Training Details
The total training duration is 4 years (3+1) at Pre-Commissioned Training Academies (PCTA). Phase-I consists of 3 years of Integrated Basic Military Training & Engineering Training at Cadets Training Wings located at CME Pune / MCTE Mhow / MCEME Secunderabad. Phase-II consists of 1 year of Integrated Basic Military Training & Engineering Training at Indian Military Academy (IMA), Dehradun. On successful completion of 4 years of training, cadets will be awarded an Engineering degree and granted Permanent Commission in the rank of Lieutenant.

Pay & Promotion Structure
On successful commissioning, the pay of the officer shall be fixed at the first cell of Level 10 in the Pay Matrix. The training period shall not be treated as commissioned service. A stipend of Rs. 56,100/- per month is payable at IMA only (after 3 years of training). CTC on commissioning is approximately Rs. 17–18 Lakh per annum (excluding free medical cover and travel to home town once a year).

How to Apply ?
Applications must be submitted online only through the official Indian Army Recruiting website www.joinindianarmy.nic.in by clicking the ‘online application’ button. Hard copy applications will not be accepted under any circumstances. The online portal will be active from 13-05-2026 (1200 hrs) to 12-06-2026 (1200 hrs). Candidates must enter their particulars in the online application and read the terms and conditions before submitting the form.
Candidates are permitted to make changes to incorrectly filled data in the online application until the closing of online applications; the application must be re-submitted each time it is edited. After the closing date, no changes to the online application will be permitted and no representation in this regard will be entertained. Candidates must submit only one application; receipt of multiple applications from the same candidate will result in cancellation of candidature. DIGILOCKER certificates will not be accepted in lieu of original certificates.

Important Instructions :
Only unmarried male candidates who are citizens of India, subjects of Nepal, or persons of Indian origin from specified countries are eligible to apply.
Candidates must possess the prescribed minimum qualification (10+2 with 60% PCM and JEE Mains 2026 appearance) on the closing date of application.
No hard copy applications will be accepted – online submission only.
Candidates must undertake not to marry until they complete full training; violation will lead to discharge and recovery of training cost.
PCM percentage must be entered up to two decimals and must not be rounded off; any false entry will result in outright rejection.
Candidate should not have been debarred from appearing in any examination by UPSC.
Candidate should not have been arrested/convicted by a criminal court or involved in any court case.
Candidate withdrawn from NDA, OTA, IMA, Naval Academy, Air Force Academy or any service training academy on disciplinary grounds is not eligible to apply.
Mobile phones and electronic gadgets are banned inside SSB/interview premises.
No compensation will be paid in respect of any injury sustained during SSB tests.
No request for change of SSB interview date/centre will be entertained or replied to.
Candidates appearing for SSB interview for the first time are entitled to AC III Tier to-and-fro railway fare or bus fare including reservation-cum-sleeper charges within Indian geographical limits.
Candidates are advised to visit https://www.joinindianarmy.nic.in regularly for updates. Queries will be replied only through the ‘Feedback/Queries’ option on the website. Queries received up to 03 days prior to closing of online application will only be entertained/replied.
