JK National Highway Traffic Updates for 20th May 2026
From 19-05-2026, 1600 hrs to 20-05-2026, 1600 hrs, slow traffic movement was observed on NH-44 due to single-lane conditions between Marog and Kishtwar Pather, in addition to breakdown of 03 HMV between Ramban and Nachlana, and the movement of nomads and animals crossing Nachlana–Banihal.
Owing to ongoing movement of nomads and animals on the single-lane stretch from Marog to Kishtwar Pather, it is likely to slow down. Commuters are advised to follow lane discipline and avoid overtaking.
Passenger/LMV operators are advised to prefer journey on Jammu–Srinagar NHW during daytime. Night travel should be avoided due to the apprehension of shooting stones/landslides. Movement of nomads towards valley as well as ongoing construction work between Ramban and Banihal which may cause inconvenience to commuters.
NH-44 (NHW)
Subject to fair weather and better road conditions, LMVs/Passenger/HPS/Private Cars/HMVs (Good carrying) shall be allowed from both sides on Jammu–Srinagar NHW (NH-44) via Qazigund. Single-lane traffic movement is expected. Commuters are advised to follow lane discipline, avoid overtaking, and drive cautiously. TCUs Jammu/Srinagar shall coordinate with TCU Ramban regarding road condition.
SFS Convoy Movement:
Subject to fair weather and good road conditions, Security Forces vehicles shall be allowed from both sides on Jammu–Srinagar NHW (NH-44) via Qazigund. They shall move after confirming the status of NHW from TCU Ramban.
Kishtwar–Sinthan–Anantnag NH-244:
As per order issued by the SDM Chatroo vide No. SDM/CR/2028-27/149-58 dated 05-05-2026 and the SDM Kokernag vide No. SDM/KNG/26-27/201-202 dated 01-05-2026, subject to fair weather and good road condition, after getting green signal from Traffic management agencies (NHIDCL/City Traffic SSP Srinagar/Taffic Cell) traffic shall be allowed to ply from Kishtwar towards Anantnag from 1000 hrs to 1500 hrs. No vehicle shall be allowed from Daksum between 1030 hrs to 1530 hrs. No vehicle shall be allowed after cut-off time. TCU Jammu/Ramban/TCU Srinagar will inform all concerned about the cut-off timing.
SSG ROAD:
As per order issued by the DIVCOM Kashmir vide No. DivCom/Dev/100/2026/4302-4410 dated 14-05-2026, subject to fair weather and good road conditions, LMVs shall be allowed to ply from both sides on Srinagar–Sonamarg–Gumri road, i.e., from Srinagar towards Kargil and vice versa. These vehicles shall be allowed to move from Sonamarg towards Kargil and from Minamarg towards Srinagar after getting green signal from Traffic management agencies up to 1300 hrs. However, HMVs shall be allowed to move from Sonamarg towards Kargil between 1200 hrs and 1500 hrs, and no vehicle shall be allowed after 1500 hrs. Motorists are advised to carry anti-skid chains in case of slipping on the road. TCU Srinagar and PCR Kargil will inform all concerned about the cut-off timing.
Civil Traffic is not disturbed.
Mughal Road:
As per the orders issued by the District Magistrate, Shopian vide No. DMS/ADM-P/S25-26/726-852 dated 22-04-2026 and the District Magistrate, Poonch vide No. DMPJ/376-91 dated 22-04-2026, subject to fair weather and good road conditions, vehicular movement (LMVs followed by HMVs up to six tyres only) shall be allowed on Mughal Road from both sides, i.e., from Poonch towards Shopian and vice versa. These vehicles shall be allowed from 0600 hrs (Bhimbher Gali) between 0900 hrs and 1700 hrs, and from Shopian towards Poonch between 1000 hrs and 1700 hrs, after obtaining clearance from the local Traffic management agencies (REF). No vehicle shall be allowed after the cut-off timings. TCU Jammu and TCU Srinagar shall inform all concerned regarding the cut-off timings.
