JK National Highway Traffic Updates for 24th May 2026
From 22-05-2026, 1600 hrs to 23-05-2026, 1600 hrs, slow traffic movement was observed on NH-44 due to single lane conditions between Marog and Kishtwar Pather. In addition to this, breakdown of 02 HMVs at Nachlana and Ramsu, and movement of 13 nomadic herds (crossing Nachlana–Banihal).
Owing to ongoing movement of nomadic herds, traffic on the single-lane stretch from Marog to Kishtwar Pather is likely to slow down. Commuters are advised to follow lane discipline and avoid overtaking.
Passenger/LMV operators are advised to prefer journey on Jammu–Srinagar NHW during daytime. Night travel should be avoided due to apprehension of shooting stones/landslides. Movement of nomads towards valleys as well as ongoing construction between Ramban and Banihal may cause inconvenience to commuters.
NH-44 (NHW)
Subject to fair weather and better road conditions, LMVs, Passenger/HPVs/Private Cars/HTVs (food carriers) shall be allowed from both sides on Jammu–Srinagar NHW (NH-44) via Jammu towards Srinagar and vice-versa.
Commuters are advised to follow lane discipline, overtaking, wrong lane driving will cause congestion.
SFs Convoy Movement
Subject to fair weather and road conditions, Security Forces vehicles shall be allowed from both sides on Jammu–Srinagar NHW (NH-44) via Jammu towards Srinagar and vice-versa. They shall move after confirming the status of NHW.
Kishtwar–Sinthan–Anantnag NH-244
As per order issued by SDM Chatroo vide No. SDM/Chatroo/27/149-58 dated 05-05-2026 and SDM Kokernag vide No. SDM/KNG/26-27/201-207 dated 01-05-2026, subject to fair weather and good road conditions, after getting green signal from Road Maintenance Agencies (NHIDCL) only LMVs Passenger/Private Cars shall be allowed to ply from Kishtwar towards Srinagar via Sinthan Top.
These vehicles shall be allowed from PP Parana between 0830 hrs to 1530 hrs. No vehicle shall be allowed after cut-off timing. TC Jammu/Ramban/TCO Srinagar will inform all concerned about cut-off timing.
SSG ROAD :
As per order issued by Divisional Commissioner Kashmir vide No. Div Com/Dev/100226/4203-4414 dated 14-05-2026, subject to fair weather and road conditions, LMVs shall be allowed to ply from both sides on Srinagar–Sonamarg–Gumari road, i.e., from Srinagar towards Kargil and vice-versa.
These vehicles shall be allowed to move from Sonamarg towards Kargil and from Minamarg towards Srinagar only, after receiving green signal from Road Maintenance Agencies up to 1300 hrs. However, HMVs shall be allowed to move from Minamarg towards Srinagar between 1200 hrs and 1500 hrs, and no vehicle shall be allowed after 1500 hrs.
No vehicle shall be allowed after cut-off timing. TCU Srinagar and PCR Kargil will inform all concerned about cut-off timing.
Mughal Road :
As per the orders issued by District Magistrate Shopian vide No. DMS/ADM/PS/25-26/726-85 dated 22-04-2026 and District Magistrate Poonch vide No. DMPJ/376-91 dated 22-04-2026, and subject to fair weather and good conditions, vehicular movement (LMVs followed by HMVs up to six tyres only) shall be allowed on Mughal Road from both sides, i.e., from Poonch towards Shopian and vice-versa.
These vehicles shall be allowed from Chandimarh (Pathiwas) towards Shopian between 0900 hrs and 1700 hrs, and from Herpora (Shopian) towards Poonch between 0700 hrs and 1700 hrs, after obtaining clearance from the road maintenance agency (GREF). No vehicle shall be allowed after the cut-off timings. TCU Jammu and TCU Srinagar shall inform all concerned regarding cut-off timings.
