Applications are invited online from eligible applicants domiciled in the UT of Jammu & Kashmir for engagement as Senior Residents / Demonstrators in various disciplines of Government Medical College, Srinagar under SO.364 of 2020 dated 27-11-2020 and Govt Order No. 383-JK(HME) of 2024.

Eligibility (main gist)
Eligibility is as per Teachers Eligibility Qualifications in Medical Institutions Regulations, 2025.
Broad qualification pattern
For most medical super-specialty posts, required qualifications are like:
- MD / MS / DNB in the concerned specialty, or
- DM / M.Ch / DNB in the relevant super-specialty, depending on the discipline.
Special note for Pediatric Biochemistry
- For medical persons: MD/DNB in Biochemistry from NMC-recognized institution
- For non-medical persons: Demonstrator/Master of Science in Medical Biochemistry with PhD or equivalent qualification in Medical Biochemistry from recognized institution
Selection process
Selection shall be made on the basis of:
- Performance in MCQ-based written test only
Tenure / engagement
- Initial engagement is for 1 year
- Extendable year to year up to a maximum of 3 years, subject to satisfactory performance and certification by HOD.
Application fee

- To be paid online through Net Banking / UPI / Credit Card / Debit Card
In-service / Non-in-service condition
For In-service candidates
- Must apply through proper channel
- Those working in the Directorate of Health Services, Kashmir/Jammu are required to submit application with NOC from parent department
- In-service doctors shall be paid salary as per rules
For Non-in-service candidates
- Appointment will be on Academic Arrangement Basis
- Paid stipend in accordance with SO.364 of 2020 dated 27-11-2020
Documents required
Candidates have to upload / submit self-attested copies of relevant documents such as:
- MBBS marks sheet / all professional examination certificates
- MD / MS / DNB / MCh / DM qualification certificates
- MSc Medical Biochemistry / PhD documents wherever applicable
- Date of Birth certificate
- Internship certificate
- J&K Medical Council / NMC registration certificate
- Domicile certificate
- NOC (for in-service candidates)
- Experience certificate, if applicable
- Affidavit(s), where required
Important conditions mentioned
- Candidate must read eligibility instructions carefully before applying.
- Application must be filled carefully because no change/correction will be allowed after submission.
- Uploaded documents must be clear and within prescribed size.
- Hard copy of application and documents may be required to be submitted in the office of Registrar Academics, GMC Srinagar when asked.
- Incomplete applications or applications without required documents / fee receipt will be rejected.
- Candidates who have appeared in the final examination of postgraduate/postdoctoral course in the relevant discipline can also apply.
- There is a waiting list provision valid for 3 months from the date of issue of select list.
- If two or more candidates secure equal merit, preference will be decided as per conditions in the notice.
Upper age / tenure related note visible in notice
The notice also mentions:
- Upper age limit for appointment as Senior Resident in broad specialties is linked with Govt Order No. 383-JK(HME) of 2024.
- A candidate can complete maximum 3 years as Registrar / Senior Resident / Demonstrator / Tutor combined, subject to conditions.
