7 Killed as Flash Flood, Landslide Devastate Loran Domila Dhook in J&K’s Poonch

Residential House Buried Under Debris Following Heavy Rains; Police, Rescue Teams Recover All Bodies

At least seven people lost their lives after a flash flood and landslide struck Domail Dhok Nandichool in the Loran area of Poonch district during the intervening night, officials said on Monday.

Officials told news agency, the victims were buried under the debris after the landslide hit a residential structure amid heavy rainfall.

The deceased have been identified as Zaida Begum (35), wife of Mohd Rafiq; Adnan Rafiq (4), son of Mohd Rafiq; Irzaa (2), daughter of Mohd Rafiq; Shamim Akhter, wife of Rayaz Ahmad; Tanvir (22), son of Ghulam Mohammad; Irfan (22), son of Subhan Dar; and Sabina (30), wife of Abdul Majid.

Officials said rescue teams launched an operation immediately after the incident. All the bodies have been recovered from the debris and shifted for medico-legal formalities.

The incident comes amid widespread devastation caused by heavy rainfall, flash floods and landslides across Poonch and Rajouri districts, where multiple casualties and extensive damage to public and private property have been reported.

Authorities said relief and rescue operations are continuing in the affected areas while the administration is closely monitoring the overall situation. (JKNS)
