JK National Highway Traffic Updates for 23rd July 2026
From 22-07-2026, 1600 hrs to 23-07-2026, 1600 hrs, Jammu–Srinagar NHW remained closed for 24 hours due to landslides/shooting stones at several locations and incessant rainfall along the entire highway.
In view of the inclement weather conditions forecast by the IMD with a likely spell of heavy rainfall till tomorrow, the general public is advised to avoid travelling on NH-44 until the weather improves and the highway is declared safe and clear for traffic. Commuters are also advised to check the status of roads at J&K Traffic Police Twitter handle and Facebook page.
Commuters are advised to avoid unnecessary travel between Ramban and Banihal, especially near landslide/shooting stone areas.

Jammu–Srinagar NHW (NH-44)
Jammu–Srinagar National Highway (NH-44) remains closed for vehicular movement due to landslides/shooting stones at several locations and incessant rainfall along the entire highway. Road clearance work is still going on. Decision regarding the vehicular movement on Jammu–Srinagar NHW shall be taken tomorrow after assessing the road conditions. Commuters are advised to avoid travelling on NH-44 until the weather improves and the highway is declared safe and clear for traffic. Please don’t pay heed to the rumors and check the status of road at Traffic Police Twitter handle, Facebook page, TCU.
SHRI AMARNATH JI YATRA 2026
In view of the inclement weather forecast issued by the IMD, the UT Administration has already decided that the Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra shall remain suspended till further orders. Accordingly, tomorrow, no vehicle carrying Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra pilgrims shall be allowed to proceed from Jammu/Udhampur/Ramban towards Srinagar.
Kishtwar–Sinthan–Anantnag NH-244
Kishtwar–Sinthan–Anantnag road is closed for vehicular movement due to landslides.
SSG ROAD
As per order issued by the Divisional Commissioner Kashmir vide No. DivCom/Dev/100/2026/4392-4410 dated 14-05-2026, subject to fair weather and good road conditions, LMVs shall be allowed to ply from both sides on Srinagar–Sonamarg–Gumari Road, i.e., from Srinagar towards Kargil and vice versa.
These vehicles shall be allowed to move from Sonamarg towards Kargil and from Minamarg towards Srinagar only after receiving green signal from the road maintenance agencies up to 1300 hrs. However, HMVs shall be allowed to move from Sonamarg towards Kargil between 1200 hrs and 1700 hrs, and no vehicle shall be allowed after 1700 hrs. Motorists are advised to carry and use anti-skid chains to gain more grip on the slippery road. TCU Srinagar and PCR Kargil will inform all concerned about the cut-off timing.
SFs convoy moving on the SSG road shall plan their movement in such a manner that civil traffic is not disturbed.
Mughal Road (NH-701A)
Subject to fair weather and good road conditions, after obtaining clearance from the road maintenance agency (GREF), vehicular movement (LMVs followed by HMVs up to ten tyres only) shall be allowed to ply on Mughal Road from both sides.
From Poonch towards Shopian and vice versa.
These vehicles shall be allowed to move from Chandimarh (Buffliaz) towards Shopian between 0900 hrs and 1700 hrs, and from Herpora (Shopian) towards Poonch between 0700 hrs and 1800 hrs.
No vehicle shall be allowed to proceed after the prescribed cut-off timings.
As per the orders issued by the District Magistrate, Shopian vide No. DMS/ADM-PS/26-27/321-31 dated 03-07-2026 and the District Magistrate, Poonch vide No. DMP/JI/76-91 dated 22-04-2026, TCU Jammu and TCU Srinagar shall inform all concerned regarding the cut-off timings.
