JK National Highway Traffic Updates for 2nd August 2026
From 31-07-2026, 1800 hrs to 02-08-2026, 1800 hrs, Jammu-Srinagar NHW remains closed for 31 hours due to rectification work between Jammu (Udhampur) and Banihal (Ramban District).
In view of the inclement weather conditions forecasted by the IMD with a likely spell of rainfall over the next few days, the general public is advised to undertake journeys only after confirming the status of road from TCU Jammu/Srinagar/Ramban. Commuters are also advised to check the status of roads on the J&K Traffic Police Facebook and Twitter pages.
In view of the extensive damage to NH-44 at Digdole Udhampur, traffic movement of vehicles over rough & bumpy surface of carriageway causing disproportionate movement of local commuters within the Union Territory of Jammu & Kashmir shall not be allowed after 08:00 hrs, till the smooth movement of traffic is restored. However, vehicles carrying essential commodities and other perishable items shall be allowed after the cut-off timing of 1200 hrs, depending upon the situation. Traffic Police shall regulate traffic movement as per the situation.
Local commuters travelling in private vehicles towards Srinagar are advised to use the old road via Jawahar Tunnel in order to avoid congestion at Lamber (Banihal).
Similarly, commuters travelling to Sialkot, Doda, Bhaderwah, Kishtwar, and adjoining areas are advised to use the old road via Patnitop while returning from Jammu in order to avoid congestion at Ramban.
Passenger/LMV operators are advised to prefer journey on Jammu-Srinagar NHW during daytime. Night travel should be avoided due to the possibility of shooting stones/landslides as well as ongoing construction work between Ramban and Banihal and the existing Digdole traffic jam, which may cause inconvenience to commuters.
Goods carrier (HMV/LMV) operators carrying fresh perishables in stock are advised to load their vehicles as per advisory issued by Traffic Police Headquarters from time to time. HMVs shall be allowed to ply in alternate days only.
Fruit growers/Load carrier (PSV/LMV) operators carrying fresh perishables from Valley towards Jammu are advised to load and park their vehicles in a staggered manner every morning before 08:00 hrs at designated places between Nashri and Lamber, on the day of the convoy, so that their movement can be facilitated smoothly.
HMV Operators/Owners are requested to desist from overloading and carry sufficient fuel during journey on Jammu-Srinagar NHW. It is further requested that vehicle owners should check the fitness of their vehicles and carry sufficient fuel before undertaking journey on Jammu-Srinagar NHW.
Commuters are advised to avoid unnecessary halts between Ramban and Banihal, especially near landslide/shooting-stone-prone areas.
TRAFFIC PLAN & ADVISORY FOR 02-08-2026
Jammu-Srinagar NHW (NH-44)
Subject to fair weather and better road conditions, HMV convoy (LMVs/Passenger/Private Cars) shall be allowed from both sides on Jammu-Srinagar NHW (NH-44), i.e. from Jammu towards Srinagar and vice versa. However, HMVs/Load Carriers shall be allowed on alternate days. TCU shall regulate traffic before releasing the traffic.

CUT-OFF TIMINGS FOR LMVs/PASSENGER/PRIVATE CARS
To be released from:
Nagrota (Jammu) towards Srinagar: From 0700 hrs to 1200 hrs.
Jakheni (Udhampur) towards Srinagar: From 0800 hrs to 1200 hrs.
Qazigund towards Jammu: From 1400 hrs to 1730 hrs.
TCU Jammu and TCU Srinagar will coordinate the movement of traffic accordingly and cut-off timings. No vehicle shall be allowed to move before and after cut-off timings.
NHW-44 Local Corridors
Subject to fair weather, better road conditions and an assessment of the prevailing traffic situation on NH-44, HMVs shall be allowed to move from Jammu (Udhampur) towards Srinagar. However, no HMV shall be allowed to move after 1800 hrs. TCU Jammu shall coordinate with TCU Ramban before releasing HMVs.
Moreover, in view of the ongoing Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra 2026, to ensure smooth movement of yatri-carrying transport/vehicles on NH-44, all restrictions have been imposed on the movement of trucks, oil tankers carrying empty LPG cylinders, etc. Only those vehicles carrying essential commodities shall be allowed as per the prescribed directions.
ARMY/ME CONVOY MOVEMENT
Army and other security forces are advised to plan their movement after Army Convoy movements, keeping in view the daily TCU advisory, in such a manner so that their convoys are completely delinked from Army convoy movements without hampering the movement of LMVs/other vehicles and especially avoid Patnitop–Ramban and NH-44 convoy movements from Jammu & Kashmir ends respectively.
Kishtwar–Sinthan–Anantnag NH-244
As per order issued by the J&K Traffic Police, subject to fair weather and good road conditions, after getting green signal from the road maintenance agencies, LMVs/Passenger/Private Cars shall be allowed to move from Kishtwar towards Sinthan/Anantnag and vice versa during the prescribed timings.
These vehicles shall be allowed to move from P.Parna towards Anantnag between the prescribed hours and from Anantnag towards Kishtwar during the return timings.
TCU Jammu/Srinagar/TCU Ramban shall inform all concerned about the cut-off timings.
SSG ROAD
As per order issued by the Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, subject to fair weather and good road conditions, LMVs shall be allowed to ply from both sides on Srinagar–Sonamarg–Zoji La road, i.e. from Sonamarg towards Kargil and vice versa.
These vehicles shall be allowed to move from Sonamarg towards Kargil and from Kargil towards Srinagar only after receiving the green signal from the road maintenance agencies.
However, HMVs shall be allowed to move from Sonamarg towards Srinagar between 1200 hrs and 1500 hrs, subject to fair weather and road conditions.
All concerned shall ensure smooth movement of traffic and avoid unnecessary halts. TCU Srinagar and PCR Kargil will inform all concerned about the cut-off timings.
Mughal Road
Subject to fair weather and good road conditions, after receiving clearance from the road maintenance agency, vehicular movement of LMVs shall be allowed by HMVs up to Ten Tyres only from both sides, i.e. from Poonch towards Shopian and vice versa.
These vehicles shall be allowed from Poonch towards Shopian and vice versa after receiving green signal from the road maintenance agencies.
No vehicle shall be allowed to proceed after the prescribed cut-off timings.
As per the orders issued by the competent authority, HMVs shall be allowed on Mughal Road only subject to the prevailing conditions.
All concerned shall ensure smooth movement of traffic and avoid unnecessary halts.
