Infantry, Home & Hearth Battalions, Territorial Army TA New Recruitment 2026

The Territorial Army has issued an advertisement for recruitment to Infantry Battalions and Home & Hearth (H&H) Battalions for candidates belonging to Zone-1, covering the UT of Jammu & Kashmir, Ladakh, Punjab, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Chandigarh and NCT Delhi.

The recruitment will be conducted through recruitment rallies at different locations in November–December 2026.

Important : The Territorial Army states that selection is strictly fair, transparent and merit-based. Candidates are advised not to pay any bribe or fall prey to persons posing as recruiting agents.

Recruitment Locations and Schedule

Recruitment for the eight Infantry Battalions and two Home & Hearth Battalions will be conducted at the following locations:

Madhopur, Punjab

Dates: 10 November 2026 to 24 November 2026

Units: 157 Infantry Battalion (TA) (H&H) Sikh

Eligible Areas: UT of Ladakh, UT of J&K and Pathankot District of Punjab.

Ludhiana, Punjab

Dates: 10 November 2026 to 24 November 2026

Units: All Infantry and Home & Hearth Battalions – TA Group, Western Command.

Eligible Areas: Punjab, excluding SAS Nagar and Pathankot Districts of Punjab.

Kalka, Haryana

Dates: 28 November 2026 to 12 December 2026

Eligible Areas: Himachal Pradesh, UT Chandigarh, Panchkula District of Haryana and SAS Nagar District of Punjab.

New Delhi

Dates: 10 November 2026 to 24 November 2026

Eligible Areas: NCT Delhi and Haryana, excluding Panchkula District.

Recruitment Location: 106 Infantry Battalion (TA), Raj Rif, Delhi Cantonment.

Candidates must report at 02:00 AM, and no entry will be permitted after 05:00 AM.

Age Limit

Candidates must be:

18 to 42 years of age as on the date of recruitment.

Educational Qualification :

Soldier – General Duty

Candidates must have passed Class 10th/Matric with:

Minimum 45% marks in aggregate

Minimum 33% marks in each subject

For boards following a grading system, candidates should have a minimum D Grade (33–40) in individual subjects and an overall aggregate equivalent to C2 grade.

Soldier – Clerk

Candidates must have passed 10+2/Intermediate in any stream — Arts, Commerce or Science — with:

Minimum 60% marks in aggregate

Minimum 50% marks in each subject

Minimum 50% marks in English and Mathematics/Accounts/Book Keeping in Class 12th is mandatory.

Soldier Tradesman – All Trades Except House Keeper & Mess Keeper

Class 10th pass

No minimum aggregate percentage is prescribed.

Minimum 33% marks in each subject is required.

Soldier Tradesman – House Keeper & Mess Keeper

Class 8th pass

No minimum aggregate percentage.

Minimum 33% marks in each subject required.

Other Eligibility Conditions

Before recruitment, the following conditions will be verified:

The candidate must be a resident of the zone prescribed for the recruitment unit to which he is volunteering.

Candidates serving in any Central/State Government or Public Utility Service must obtain permission from the concerned government/authority and submit a certificate confirming that their services can be made available to the Territorial Army whenever required.

The candidate must not belong to any Armed Forces, Reserve Forces, CAPF or State Police Force.

The candidate should not have any serious liability.

The candidate must not have been dismissed from the Territorial Army or other specified forces.

The candidate should not have more than one living wife.

The candidate must not have been convicted of any offence by a criminal court.

Physical Standards

Height :

The required height is 160 cm.

A relaxation to 157 cm is applicable to candidates domiciled in specified Eastern Himalayan and other regions, including Sikkim, Nagaland, Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur, Tripura, Mizoram, Meghalaya, Assam, specified hill regions of West Bengal, Indian-domicile Gorkhas, Garhwalis and Ladakhis.

Chest

Normal chest: 82 cm

Minimum expansion: 77 cm

Weight

Weight should be proportionate to height and age according to Army Medical Standards.

Relaxation in Physical Standards

Relaxation is available for certain categories.

Sons of Servicemen/Ex-Servicemen and War Widows

For sons of servicemen, ex-servicemen, war widows and widows of ex-servicemen, including adopted sons/son-in-law of a war widow where she has no son:

Height relaxation: 2 cm

Weight relaxation: 2 kg

Chest relaxation: 1 cm

Outstanding Sportsmen

Outstanding sportsmen at International, National and State level may receive:

Height relaxation: 3 cm

Weight relaxation: 3 kg

Chest relaxation: 3 cm
