1. Deepti Gaur Mukerjee Appointed Higher Education Secretary
The Union Government appointed 1993-batch IAS officer Deepti Gaur Mukerjee as the new Secretary of the Department of Higher Education. She succeeds Vineet Joshi.
2. India Expands E-Visa Entry Points
India notified 11 additional international entry points for foreign nationals holding e-visas, taking the total designated entry points to 88. The new points include Bhopal and Tirupati airports and nine land ports.
3. VOC Port Becomes India’s First Scope-2 Emission-Free Major Port
The V.O. Chidambaranar Port Authority, Thoothukudi, became India’s first major port recognised as Scope-2 emission-free. It also received ISO 50001:2018 certification for its Energy Management System.
4. MSME Ministry and DPIIT Sign MoU
The Ministry of MSME and DPIIT signed an MoU aimed at increasing the commercialisation and global reach of India’s Geographical Indication (GI) products.

5. ₹10 Crore Approved for Rattan Garh Fort
The J&K Government approved ₹10 crore for the repair, renovation and restoration of Rattan Garh Fort in Bhaderwah, Doda. The project aims to conserve the historic structure and promote heritage tourism in the Chenab Valley.

NASA has invited ISRO to participate in its proposed Moon Base programme under the Artemis framework, indicating deeper India-US cooperation in space exploration.

7. India Wins 17 Medals in U-23 Commonwealth Fencing Championship
India won 17 medals on the opening day in Lagos, Nigeria, including 4 gold, 4 silver and 9 bronze medals. The championship is being held from 9–14 August 2026.
