From 13-08-2026, 1600 hrs to 14-08-2026, 1600 hrs, very slow traffic movement was observed on NH-44 due to single lane, undulating & uneven surface of the road at Dawal, Udhampur, as well as the single-lane stretch between Morgao and Kishtwar Pathe. In addition to the breakdown of 04 vehicles between Nashri and Ramban.

In view of the inclement weather conditions forecast by the IMD, with a likely spell of rainfall over the next few days, the general public is advised to undertake journeys only after confirming the status of the road from TCU Srinagar/Ramban/Jammu. Commuters are also advised to check the status of roads at J&K Traffic Police Twitter handle and Facebook page.

Traffic remained regulated at Dawal, Udhampur on NH-44 due to a single-lane stretch of about 30–40 metres.

Passenger/LMV operators are advised to prefer journeys on Jammu-Srinagar NHW during daytime. Night travel should be avoided due to the apprehension of shooting stones/landslides, as well as ongoing construction work between Ramban and Banihal, which may cause inconvenience to commuters.

Goods carrier (HMV/LMV) operators carrying fresh perishables/live stock are advised to load their vehicles as per advisories issued by Traffic Police Headquarters from time to time, as there is an apprehension of shooting stones/landslides as well as ongoing construction work between Ramban and Banihal.

HMV Operators/Owners are requested to desist from overloading and carry sufficient fuel during the journey on Jammu-Srinagar NHW. It is further requested that vehicle owners must double-check the fitness of their vehicles and carry sufficient fuel before undertaking the journey on Jammu-Srinagar NHW.

Commuters are advised to avoid unnecessary stoppage between Ramban and Banihal, especially near landslide/shooting stone areas.

TRAFFIC PLAN & ADVISORY FOR 15-08-2026

Jammu-Srinagar NHW (NH-44)

Subject to fair weather and better road conditions, LMVs/Passenger HMV/Private Cars/HMVs (Good carrier) shall be allowed from both sides on Jammu-Srinagar NHW (NH-44), i.e. from Jammu towards Srinagar and vice-versa.

Commuters are advised to follow lane discipline. Wrong driving will cause congestion. TCU Jammu/Srinagar shall coordinate with TCU Ramban regarding the road condition.

Army/BSF Convoy Movement

Subject to fair weather and good road conditions, Security Forces vehicles shall be allowed from both sides on Jammu-Srinagar NHW (NH-44), i.e. Jammu towards Srinagar and vice-versa.

They shall move only after confirming the status of NHW from TCU Ramban.

Kishtwar–Sinthan–Anantnag NH-244

As per order issued by the SDM Chatroo vide No. SDM/C/2026-277578-89 dated 09-07-2026 and the SDM Kishtwar vide No. SDMK/2026-3047-09 dated 09-07-2026, subject to fair weather and good road conditions, after obtaining green signal from Road Maintenance agencies (NHAIDCL), LMVs/Passenger/Private Cars shall be allowed to ply from both sides via Kishtwar towards Srinagar and vice versa on Kishtwar-Sinthan-Anantnag road.

These vehicles shall be allowed to move from PP Panjra towards Anantnag between 0800 hrs and 1600 hrs, and from Daksum towards Kishtwar between 0800 hrs and 1600 hrs.

No vehicle shall be allowed after the cut-off timing. TCU Jammu/Ramban/TCU Srinagar will inform all concerned about the cut-off timing.

SSG ROAD

As per order issued by the DMC/DM Kashmir vide No. DivCom/Dev/100/2028/4382-4410 dated 14-05-2026, subject to fair weather and good road conditions:

LMVs shall be allowed to ply from both sides on Srinagar-Sonamarg-Gumri road, i.e. from Srinagar towards Kargil and vice versa.

Vehicles shall be allowed to move from Sonamarg towards Kargil between 0900 hrs and 1700 hrs, only after receiving the green signal from the road maintenance agency.

However, HMV shall be allowed to move from Sonamarg towards Kargil between 0700 hrs and 1700 hrs.

No vehicle shall be allowed after 1700 hrs.

Motorists are advised to carry and use anti-skid chains to gain more grip on slippery roads.

TCU Srinagar and PCR Kargil will inform all concerned about the cut-off timing.

Security Forces convoy moving on the SSG road shall plan their movement in such a manner that civil traffic is not disturbed.

Mughal Road (NH-701A)

Subject to fair weather and good road conditions, after obtaining clearance from the road maintenance agency (GREW), vehicular movement (LMVs followed by HMVs up to ten tyres only) shall be allowed to ply on Mughal Road from both sides, i.e. from Poonch towards Shopian and vice versa.

These vehicles shall be allowed from Chandimandir (Buffliaz) towards Shopian and from Heerpora (Shopian) towards Poonch between 0700 hrs and 1800 hrs.

No vehicle shall be allowed to proceed after the prescribed cut-off timing.

As per the orders issued by the District Magistrate, Shopian, vide No. DMS/ADM/PS/2026-27131-31 dated 03-07-2026, TCU Jammu and TCU Srinagar shall inform all concerned regarding the cut-off timing.
