SMC Junior Inspector Suspended After Arrest In Graft Case
Commissioner Srinagar Municipal Corporation has placed a Junior Building Inspector under suspension after her arrest in a corruption case.
As per order, a copy of which lies with GNS, Ms. Gazala Akhter, Junior Building Inspector, Ward No. 28, SMC, shall be deemed to have been placed under suspension with effect from the date of her arrest i.e., 20.08.2026.
The suspension has been ordered in terms of Rule 31 of J&K Civil Services (Classification, Appeal) Rules, 1956.
The action follows a communication from Senior Superintendent of Police, Anti-Corruption Bureau, Srinagar vide letter No. SSP-ACB-Sgr-FIR-11/2026-6967-69 dated 20.08.2026, regarding arrest of the public servant in case FIR No. 11/2026 U/S 7 of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988 (as amended in 2018).
During the period of suspension, she shall remain attached in the office of the Joint Commissioner (Sanitation), SMC and shall be entitled to subsistence allowance @50% (half pay and half dearness allowance) in terms of Article 108-A of the Jammu and Kashmir Civil Service Regulations, 1956.
Pertinently, the Anti-Corruption Bureau on Thursday trapped and arrested a Junior Building Inspector of Srinagar Municipal Corporation for allegedly demanding and accepting bribe.
