SKIMS Recruitment 2026
The Sher-i-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences (SKIMS), Soura, Srinagar, Government of Jammu & Kashmir, has issued Advertisement Notification No. SIMS/ACAD/03 of 2026 dated 24 August 2026 for the engagement of eligible candidates as Stipendiary Senior Residents on a tenure basis.
The engagement will initially be for a period of one year against vacant or likely-to-be-vacant positions in various departments of SKIMS.
Important: Candidates who have already applied under Advertisement No. SIMS/ACAD/02 of 2026 dated 21 July 2026 are not required to apply again. However, their eligibility will remain provisional and subject to scrutiny of their documents and certificates.
Essential Qualifications and Documents
Applicants must possess the prescribed postgraduate medical qualification from a recognized College/University as defined by the National Medical Commission (NMC).

Candidates are required to submit the following documents:
DM/MCh/DrNB/MD/MS/DNB degree from a recognized institution.
Valid J&K Medical Registration for the relevant qualification.
Domicile Certificate of J&K.
No Objection Certificate (NOC) from the employer in case of in-service candidates.
Details of papers/publications, if any.
Details of awards, if any.
Non-refundable application fee of ₹1,000.
Undertaking in the prescribed format given in Annexure-II, supported by an affidavit duly attested by a First Class Judicial Magistrate.
The application fee of ₹1,000 is to be deposited at the P.O.S. in the Academics Section through Card/UPI, and the fee receipt must be submitted along with the application.
Candidates Awaiting Final Results
Candidates who have appeared in the final/exit examination of the qualifying degree may also apply. However, merely applying will not confer any right to selection.
Their candidature will remain provisional and will be subject to declaration of the result, successful completion of the qualifying course/degree and fulfilment of all prescribed eligibility conditions within the stipulated timeline. Candidates who fail to meet these requirements will be treated as ineligible and their candidature/selection will be cancelled.
Age Limit
The upper age limit for appointment as Senior Resident is:
45 years for Senior Residents in broad specialties.
50 years for subjects including Anatomy, Biochemistry, Physiology, Pharmacology, Microbiology, Pathology, Forensic Medicine and Community Medicine.
Financial Benefits
Selected candidates will be paid stipend along with other usual allowances as admissible under the applicable rules.
HRA will be payable only to those Senior Residents who are not provided accommodation at the SKIMS Campus.
Departments and Prescribed Qualifications
1. Anesthesiology
Candidates must possess M.D./DNB in Anesthesiology.
2. Critical Care Medicine
Eligible qualifications include:
D.M./DNB/DrNB in Critical Care Medicine
M.D./DNB in Anesthesiology
M.D./DNB in General Medicine
M.D./DNB in Respiratory Medicine
M.D./DNB in Emergency Medicine
M.D./DNB/DM in Pulmonary Medicine
3. Pediatrics & Neonatology
Candidates with D.M./DNB/DrNB in Neonatology or M.D./DNB in Pediatrics are eligible.
4. Emergency Medicine
The prescribed qualifications are M.D./DNB in Emergency Medicine and M.D./DNB in General Medicine.
However, in view of the present departmental requirements, eligibility for the Emergency Medicine department has been restricted to candidates possessing M.D./DNB in Emergency Medicine or M.D./DNB in General Medicine only.
5. Medicine & Allied Specialties
Candidates must possess M.D./DNB in General Medicine. Candidates holding higher qualifications such as D.M./DrNB may also apply.

6. Surgery & Allied Specialties
Candidates must possess M.S./DNB in General Surgery. Candidates with higher qualifications such as M.Ch./DrNB may also apply.
7. Obstetrics and Gynaecology
The prescribed qualification is M.D./M.S./DNB in Obstetrics and Gynaecology.
8. Hospital Administration
Candidates must possess M.D. in Hospital Administration.
9. Nuclear Medicine
Eligible qualifications include:
M.D./DNB in Nuclear Medicine
M.D. in Radiotherapy
M.D. in Medicine with DRM or DNM
M.D. in Radio-diagnosis
M.D. in Biophysics
Equivalent qualification in Biophysics with DRM or DNM or DNB in Nuclear Medicine
10. Pharmacology
Candidates with M.D./DNB in Pharmacology or M.Sc. in Medical Pharmacology with Ph.D. in Medical Pharmacology are eligible.
11. Radio-Diagnosis
Candidates must possess M.D./DNB in Radio-Diagnosis.
How to Apply
Eligible candidates are required to apply in the prescribed application form available on the official SKIMS website.
The duly filled application form, along with all required documents, NOC wherever applicable and the ₹1,000 fee receipt, must be submitted to:

Last Date to Apply
The last date for receipt of applications is 3 September 2026 up to 4:00 PM.
No application will be entertained after the prescribed cut-off date.
Written Test / Interview
The date and schedule for the Written Test/Interview will be notified separately through the official SKIMS website.
Candidates will not receive individual communication regarding the date of the Written Test/Interview. Therefore, applicants are advised to regularly check the SKIMS website for updates.
Important Terms and Conditions
The engagement will be governed by the terms and conditions applicable to tenure engagement at SKIMS. Any breach of these conditions may result in immediate relief from the tenure post.
All certificates submitted by candidates must have been issued on or before the last date of submission of applications. Under-process certificates will not be accepted.
Candidates eligible in more than one specialty must apply separately for each department, along with a separate fee receipt.
Candidates who have already completed three years of Senior Residency at SKIMS or any other institute in the same department ordinarily will not be eligible for engagement/re-engagement as Senior Residents in that department. However, SKIMS may consider such candidates where eligible candidates are unavailable or institutional requirements warrant such engagement in the interest of patient care, academic activities and departmental functioning.
Selected candidates will receive the applicable stipend and allowances. HRA will be paid only to candidates who are not provided accommodation at the SKIMS Campus.
Candidates must submit the application form completely and in all respects. Incomplete applications are liable to be rejected, and no correspondence in this regard will be entertained.
The decision of the competent authority regarding the selection process and engagement shall be final and binding.
Candidates should regularly visit the official SKIMS website for updates, corrigenda and changes in the schedule. No individual communication will be issued.
The engagement is purely on a tenure basis and does not confer any right to regularization, continuation or permanent absorption in SKIMS.
The engagement will be subject to satisfactory verification of character and antecedents by the competent authority.
Affidavit Requirement
Applicants are required to submit the affidavit prescribed under Annexure-II, duly attested by a First Class Judicial Magistrate.
Through the affidavit, the candidate is required to declare, among other things, that:
He/She is a domicile of the Union Territory of Jammu & Kashmir.
He/She is applying for the position of Senior Resident in the concerned department at SKIMS.
He/She has not completed Senior Residency for a period of three years in the concerned department at any institute.
The qualification certificates submitted by the candidate are genuine.
All statements and documents furnished with the application are true and correct.
He/She agrees to abide by all terms and conditions of the notification and any subsequent corrigendum.
Submission of false/fake documents may lead to cancellation of candidature/engagement and initiation of legal proceedings.
Any breach of the prescribed terms and conditions may result in rejection of candidature without further notice.
