The Islamic University of Science & Technology (IUST), Awantipora, Kashmir has invited online applications from eligible candidates for engagement as Contractual Assistant Professors (C) for the Academic Session 2026. The engagement will be made on an academic arrangement for teaching, research and allied academic activities.
Subjects and Eligibility
1. Mathematics
Candidates must have:
A Master’s degree with 55% marks or an equivalent grade in the relevant/allied subject. The minimum is 50% for SC/ST/OBC (Non-Creamy Layer) candidates.
A Ph.D. degree awarded in accordance with the applicable UGC regulations.
A Ph.D. from a foreign university/institution may also be considered if the institution has been ranked among the top 500 in QS, Times Higher Education (THE), or ARWU rankings at any time.

Candidates should possess:
B.E./B.Tech./B.S. and M.E./M.Tech./M.S. or Integrated M.Tech. in the relevant branch, with First Class or equivalent in either degree.
Class-IV Recruitment in the District Judiciary, Srinagar
A Ph.D. in the relevant branch/field as per UGC regulations.
A direct Ph.D. after B.E./B.Tech. may also be accepted subject to the prescribed conditions, including a recognized university/institution and at least First Class at the Bachelor’s level. Foreign Ph.D. qualifications from institutions ranked among the top 500 under QS, THE or ARWU are also covered.
4. Civil Engineering
Civil Engineering is also listed among the subjects for engagement.
5. Computer Science
Candidates should have:
A Master’s degree with 55% marks or equivalent in Computer Science, Information Technology, Computer Applications or an allied/relevant discipline.
A Ph.D. awarded according to applicable UGC regulations.
Foreign Ph.D. qualifications from universities/institutions ranked among the top 500 in QS, THE or ARWU are also eligible subject to the prescribed conditions.
6. Management Studies
Candidates should possess:
A Master’s degree in Tourism & Hospitality Management, Hotel Management, Hotel Management & Catering Technology, Hospitality Management, or a relevant allied discipline.
At least 60% marks.
UGC-NET/SET/NHTET qualification.
Ph.D. qualification as prescribed under the applicable UGC regulations is also mentioned in the eligibility criteria.
Monthly Remuneration
Selected candidates will receive ₹50,000 per month as emoluments.
Tenure of Engagement
The engagement will initially be made for the year 2026, ending on 31 December 2026, or until the post is filled on a substantive basis, whichever is earlier.
The engagement may be extended based on annual performance appraisal, recommendations of the concerned Head of Department, student feedback, institutional requirements and other relevant parameters.
How to Apply
Eligible candidates have to:
Apply online through the official IUST website.
Pay the prescribed non-refundable application fee of ₹500 through online mode.
Submit a hard copy of the completed application form, along with self-attested copies of relevant certificates and documents, to the office of the respective Head of Department.
The hard copy must be submitted within the prescribed deadline. Candidates who fail to submit the hard copy will not be considered.

Shortlisting and Selection
Candidates will be shortlisted for interview according to the prescribed academic and other selection criteria. The advertisement states that 20 candidates will be shortlisted for one post and 5 candidates for every additional post, subject to the applicable regulations and screening requirements.
The final selection will be made in accordance with the UGC Regulations, 2018, through interview. The panel recommended by the Selection Committee will remain valid for one year, and vacancies arising during that period may be filled from the panel.
Important Terms and Conditions
Candidates must carefully fill in all details in the online application. Original certificates relating to educational qualifications and experience must be produced at the time of interview. No TA/DA will be paid for appearing in the interview.
Qualifications and experience will be counted as on the last date of submission of applications. Publications in predatory or dubious journals/conferences will not be considered for academic credit. Research publications indexed in the UGC-CARE List are to be considered for academic purposes as specified in the notice.
Candidates are also required to submit an undertaking that their publications are free from plagiarism. If plagiarism is subsequently detected, their candidature or selection may be rejected.
Candidates holding postgraduate or Ph.D. degrees from foreign universities must submit an Equivalence Certificate issued by the Association of Indian Universities (AIU), New Delhi; otherwise, their candidature will not be considered.

The University has prescribed a 100-point selection score, comprising:
Academic Score: 80 marks
Research Publications: 10 marks
Teaching Experience: 10 marks
