Government Order No. 340-JK(Edu) of 2026: Appointment of Lecturers in Political Science

The Government of Jammu and Kashmir, School Education Department, Civil Secretariat, Jammu/Srinagar, has issued an order regarding the appointment of candidates to the post of Lecturer in the discipline of Political Science in the School Education Department.

A total of 43 candidates have been appointed as Lecturers in Political Science in the School Education Department. The appointments have been made in Pay Level-9, carrying a pay scale of ₹52,700–₹1,66,700.

The selected candidates belong to different categories, including OM, RBA, SC, ST-1, ST-2, ALC/IB, SLC, EWS and PHC, as mentioned in the official appointment order.

Place of Reporting and Joining

The appointment order states that candidates belonging to the Jammu Division are required to report to the Director, School Education, Jammu, while candidates belonging to the Kashmir Division are required to report to the Director, School Education, Kashmir.

The appointment is also subject to verification of the educational, professional and/or technical qualifications claimed by the appointees from the concerned issuing authorities.

Verification of Documents

The order makes it clear that if any discrepancy, misrepresentation or adverse finding is detected during the verification process, the appointment may be cancelled without prejudice to any other action permissible under the applicable rules and regulations.

The appointees are also required to furnish an affidavit duly attested by a competent authority confirming the authenticity of the documents submitted in support of their appointment.

Other Conditions of Appointment

The release and disbursement of salary will be subject to satisfactory verification of the required documents. The order also contains provisions relating to self-employment, recovery of Government dues where applicable, the New Pension Scheme (NPS), service anywhere within the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir and the requirement to comply with the applicable service rules.

The appointees will also be subject to the outcome of any petition(s), if pending, before any competent court of law.
