TRAFFIC POLICE HEADQUARTERS, J&K, JAMMU/SRINAGAR
From 24-08-2026, 1600 hrs to 25-08-2026, 1600 hrs, very slow traffic movement was observed on NH-44 due to single-lane condition at several stretches of the road at Dalwas, Udhampur as well as single-lane stretch between Marog and Kishitwar Pather, in addition to the movement of 04 vehicles between Ramban and Banihal.
In view of the inclement weather conditions forecast by the IMD with a likely spell of rainfall over the next few days, the general public is advised to undertake journey only after confirming the status of roads from Tcu Srinagar/Ramban/Jammu. Commuters are also advised to check the status of roads at J&K Traffic Police Twitter handle and Facebook page.
Traffic managed on regulated manner at Dalwas, Udhampur on NH-44 due to single lane about 30-40 Mtrs.
Passengers/LTV operators are advised to prefer journey on Jammu-Srinagar NHW during daytime. Night travel should be avoided due to apprehension of shooting stones/landslides as well as ongoing construction work between Ramban and Banihal which may cause inconvenience to commuters.
In view of widening works being undertaken by NHAI on Digdole-Khooni Nallah site on Jammu-Srinagar NHW, the movement of Kashmir-bound oil & gas tankers shall remain restricted from the site during daytime between 0700 hrs to 1300 hrs, due to the movement of tankers laden with inflammable material as restricted through tunnels. As such, the movement of up tank shall be allowed beyond Chenani only after 1700 hrs upto 0500 hrs. Tanker operators are advised to plan their travel accordingly in order to avoid any inconvenience and for their safety.
Good carrier (HMVL/LV) operators carrying fresh perishable stock are advised to load their vehicles as per advisory issued by Traffic Police Headquarters from time to time. In the apprehension of shooting stones/landslides as well as ongoing construction work between Ramban and Banihal, which may cause inconvenience to commuters.

HMV Operators/Owners are requested to desist from overloading and carry sufficient fuel during journey on Jammu-Srinagar NHW. It is further expected that vehicle owners must double check the fitness of their vehicles and carry sufficient fuel before undertaking journey on Jammu-Srinagar NHW.
Commuters are advised to avoid unnecessary halts between Ramban and Banihal, especially near landslide/shooting stone areas.
TRAFFIC PLAN & ADVISORY FOR 26-08-2026
Jammu-Srinagar NHW (NH-44):
Subject to fair weather and better road conditions, LMVs (Passenger/PV) & Private Cars/HMVs (Goods carriers) shall be allowed from both sides of Jammu-Srinagar NHW (NH-44) from Jammu towards Srinagar and vice versa. Commuters are advised to follow lane discipline, overtaking, wrong lane driving will cause congestion. TCU Jammu/Srinagar shall coordinate with TCU Ramban regarding the road condition.
Army/SF Convoy Movement
Subject to fair weather and good road conditions, Security Forces vehicles shall be allowed to move from both sides on Jammu-Srinagar NHW (NH-44) via Jammu towards Srinagar and vice versa. They will move after confirming the status of NHW from TCU Ramban.
Kishtwar–Sinthan–Anantnag NH-244
As per order issued by the SDM Kishtwar vide No. SDM/K/2026-27/7578-86 dated 09-07-2026 and the SDM Kokernag vide No. SDM/KOK/2026-27/4049-50 dated 09-07-2026, subject to fair weather and good road condition, after getting fresh signal from Road maintenance agencies (NDRC), LMVs/PVs/Passenger Cars shall be allowed to ply from both sides i.e. from Poonch towards Sinthan and vice versa on Kishtwar-Sinthan-Anantnag road.
These vehicles are advised to move from P/P Poonch towards Anantnag between 0600 hrs and 1600 hrs, and from Anantnag towards Kishtwar between 0600 hrs and 1600 hrs. No vehicle shall be allowed after cut-off timing. TCU Jammu/Ramban/TCU Srinagar will remain concerned about the cut-off timing.
SSG ROAD
As per order issued by the Divisional Commissioner Kashmir vide No. DivCom/Dev/100/2026/4392-4140 dated 14-05-2026, subject to fair weather and good road conditions, LMVs shall be allowed to ply from both sides on Srinagar-Sonamarg-Gumri road, i.e., from Srinagar towards Kargil and vice versa.
These vehicles shall be allowed to move from Sonamarg towards Kargil and from Minamarg towards Srinagar only, after checking weather/road conditions. After the road maintenance agency opens the road, HMVs shall be allowed to move from Minamarg towards Srinagar between 1200 hrs and 1700 hrs, and no vehicle shall be allowed after 1700 hrs.
Motorists are advised to drive carefully and use anti-skid chains to gain more grip on the slippery road. TCU Srinagar and PCR Kargil will inform all concerned about the cut-off timing.
SF convoy moving on the SSG road shall pass their movement in such a manner that all traffic is not obstructed.
Mughal Road (NH-701A)
Subject to fair weather and good road conditions, after obtaining clearance from the road maintenance agency (R&B), vehicular movement of LMVs followed by HMV up to 10 tyres only shall be allowed to ply on Mughal Road from both sides, i.e. from Poonch towards Shopian and vice versa.
These vehicles shall be allowed to ply from Chandimandi (Poonch) towards Shopian and from Shopian (Chopani) towards Poonch between 0700 hrs and 1800 hrs. No vehicle shall be allowed to proceed after the prescribed cut-off timing.
As per the orders issued by the District Magistrate, Shopian vide No. DCS/Shop/2026-27/24 dated 03-07-2026, TCU Jammu and TCU Srinagar shall inform all concerned regarding the cut-off timing.
