TRAFFIC POLICE HEADQUARTERS, J&K, JAMMU/SRINAGAR

From 30-08-2026, 1600 hrs to 31-08-2026, 1600 hrs, very slow traffic movement was observed on NH-44 due to single lane, unloading of apple cartons at Qazigund, Udhampur as well as the single-lane stretch between Mango and Kishtwar Patter. In addition to the breakdown of a vehicle at Mandan.

In view of the inclement weather conditions forecast by the IMD with a likely spell of rainfall over the next few days, the general public is advised to undertake journey only after confirming the status of the road from TCU Srinagar/Ramban/Jammu. Commuters are also advised to check the status of roads at J&K Traffic Police Twitter handle and Facebook page.

Traffic movement remained regulated at Qazigund, Udhampur on NH-44 due to the single-lane stretch for about 30–40 minutes.

Passengers/LVM operators are advised to prefer journey on Jammu-Srinagar NHW during daytime. Night travel should be avoided due to the apprehension of shooting stones/landslides as well as ongoing construction work between Ramban and Banihal, which may cause inconvenience to commuters.

In view of widening work being undertaken by NHAI on Digdol-Khooni Nallah axis on Jammu-Srinagar NHW, the movement of Kashmir-bound oil & gas tankers shall remain restricted on this direction during daytime between 0700 hrs to 1500 hrs, as the movement of tankers loaded with inflammable material is restricted through tunnels. As such, the movement of oil & gas tankers shall be allowed beyond Chenani only after 1700 hrs upto 0500 hrs. Tanker operators are advised to plan their travel accordingly in order to avoid any inconvenience and for their safety.

Goods carrier (HMV/LVM) operators carrying fresh perishable/life stock are advised to load their vehicle as per advisory issued by Traffic Police Headquarters from time to time as there is apprehension of shooting stones/landslides as well as ongoing construction work between Ramban and Banihal, which may cause inconvenience to commuters.

HMV Operators/Owners are requested to desist from overloading and carry sufficient fuel during journey on Jammu-Srinagar NHW. It is further requested that vehicle owners must double-check the fitness of their vehicles and carry sufficient fuel before undertaking journey on Jammu-Srinagar NHW.

Commuters are advised to avoid unnecessary halting between Ramban and Banihal, especially near landslide/shooting stone areas.

TRAFFIC PLAN & ADVISORY FOR 01-09-2026

Jammu-Srinagar NHW (NH-44)

Subject to fair weather and better road conditions, LMV Passenger/Private Cars/HMVs (Good carrier) shall be allowed from both sides on Jammu-Srinagar NHW (NH-44), i.e. from Jammu towards Srinagar and vice-versa.

Commuters are advised to follow lane discipline; overtaking, wrong-lane driving will cause congestion. TCU Jammu/Srinagar shall coordinate with TCU Ramban regarding the road condition.

Army/Civil Convoy Movement

Subject to fair weather and good road condition, Security Forces vehicles shall be allowed from both sides on Jammu-Srinagar NHW (NH-44), viz. Jammu towards Srinagar and vice-versa. They shall move after confirming the status of NHW from TCU Ramban.

Kishtwar-Sinthan-Anantnag NH-244

As per order issued by the SDM Dacchno vide No. SDM/2026-27/875-86 dated 09-07-2026 and the SDM Kokernag vide No. SDM/KNG/2025-26/817-58 dated 09-07-2026, subject to the weather and good road condition, after getting green signal from Road Maintenance agencies concerned (NHIDCL), LMVs/Passenger/Private Cars shall be allowed to ply from both sides via Kishtwar towards Srinagar and vice versa on Kishtwar-Sinthan-Anantnag road.

These vehicles shall be allowed to move from PP Parana towards Anantnag between 0800 hrs and 1600 hrs, and from Daksum towards Kishtwar between 0800 hrs and 1600 hrs. No vehicle shall be allowed after the cut-off timing. TCU Jammu/Ramban/TCU Srinagar will inform all concerned about the cut-off timing.

SSG Road

As per order issued by the Divisional Commissioner Kashmir vide No. DivCom/Dev/2026/432-4110 dated 14-05-2026, subject to fair weather and good road conditions, LMVs shall be allowed to ply from both sides on Srinagar-Sonamarg-Gumri road, i.e. from Srinagar towards Kargil and vice versa.

These vehicles shall be allowed to move from Sonamarg towards Kargil and from Minimarg towards Srinagar only, after receiving green signal from the road maintenance agencies and up to 1300 hrs. However, HMV shall be allowed to move from Minimarg towards Srinagar between 1200 hrs and 1700 hrs, and no vehicle shall be allowed after 1700 hrs.

Motorists are advised to carry sufficient fuel and make an early start on the slippery road. TCU Srinagar and PCR Kargil will inform all concerned about the cut-off timing.

SFC convoy moving on the SSG road shall plan their movement in such a manner that civil traffic is not obstructed.

Mughal Road (NH-701A)

Subject to fair weather and good road conditions, after obtaining clearance from the road maintenance agency (GREF), vehicular movement (LMVs followed by HMVs up to ten tyres only) shall be allowed to ply on Mughal Road from both sides, i.e. from Poonch towards Shopian and vice versa.

These vehicles shall be allowed from Chandimar (Buffliaz) towards Shopian and from Heerpora (Shopian) towards Poonch between 0700 hrs and 1800 hrs. No vehicle shall be allowed to proceed after the prescribed cut-off timings.

As per the orders issued by the District Magistrate, Shopian vide No. DM-SHP/2026-27/31-31 dated 06-07-2026, TCU Jammu and TCU Srinagar shall inform all concerned regarding the cut-off timing.
