Defence Estates Office Srinagar Recruitment 2026: Engagement of Retired Revenue Employees
The Defence Estates Office (DEO), Kashmir Circle, Srinagar, under the Ministry of Defence, Government of India, has issued a circular inviting applications from retired Government employees for engagement on a contractual basis.
The engagement is specifically for retired employees who have served in the post of Girdawar/Patwari/Naib Tehsildar, or an equivalent post in Central/State Government services.

Eligibility Criteria
Applicants should be retired Government employees who have served as Girdawar, Patwari, Naib Tehsildar, or in a similar post under Central/State Government services.
Candidates should :
Be well versed with Urdu and English languages for translation of revenue documents into English.
Have good knowledge of land demarcation as per the latest techniques.
Be able to liaise with revenue officials for obtaining revenue documents.

Possess experience in land acquisition proceedings.
Be familiar with revenue laws/Acts applicable to Jammu & Kashmir.
Have knowledge of revenue/land settlement work.
Important Terms and Conditions
The appointment will be purely on a contractual basis and will be at the Office of DEO Kashmir Circle, Srinagar.
Selected applicants will have to submit police verification within two weeks of issuance of the appointment letter.
The monthly remuneration will be paid as per Government rules and regulations and will remain unchanged throughout the contractual period.
Income Tax and other applicable deductions will be made from the remuneration as per prevailing rules.
An appropriate and fixed amount as Transport Allowance will be provided for commuting between the residence and place of work, as applicable to the candidate at the time of retirement. The amount will remain unchanged during the engagement.
No separate telephone, transport or similar facilities will be admissible.
The engagement will initially be for one year and may be extended subject to review and at the sole discretion of DEO Srinagar.
Retired Government officers below 64 years of age as on the closing date of application will be considered.
Leave may be allowed at the rate of 1.5 days for each completed month of service, subject to applicable conditions. Accumulation of leave beyond a calendar year or carrying it forward after completion of engagement will not be permitted.
The selected candidate will have to sign an agreement of confidentiality with the Office of DEO Srinagar, including clauses relating to ethics and integrity.
DEO Srinagar may terminate the services of an individual if he/she fails to complete assigned work within the prescribed timeframe or is otherwise found unsuitable.
The office reserves the right to terminate the engagement at any time without assigning any reason and without prior notice.
The engagement will not confer any right on the selected candidate for regular appointment to the post.
The employee may be required to attend office on Saturdays, Sundays and other Gazetted Holidays, or work beyond normal office hours in case of exigencies.
No TA/DA will be admissible for attending the interview or joining the appointment.

If any information furnished by a candidate is found to be false, or if relevant information is deliberately suppressed, the engagement may be terminated and other necessary action may be taken as per rules.
Interview Information
As per the circular, shortlisted candidates will be required to attend an interview as and when informed by the Defence Estates Office, Srinagar.
No TA/DA will be paid for attending the interview or taking up the appointment.
