India Achieves 7.8% GDP Growth Despite Wars, Global Instability: PM Modi
PM Modi hails collective efforts of people; calls for Swadeshi, self-reliance to sustain growth and realise developed India vision
New Delhi, Sept 1 : Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday congratulated the people of India for achieving a 7.8 per cent GDP growth, saying the milestone was recorded despite wars, global instability and supply-chain disruptions.
In a video message shared on Instagram, as per news agency JKNS, PM Modi said India had continued to progress despite the lack of stability in the global environment since the COVID-19 pandemic.
“I want to congratulate the people of the country for 7.8 per cent GDP growth. It has been possible due to their collective resolve and efforts,” he said.
The Prime Minister called for greater emphasis on Swadeshi and self-reliance, saying sustained efforts in these areas would help fulfil the dreams of the country’s youth and pave the way for a developed India by the 100th year of Independence.
Modi also urged people to avoid unnecessary foreign holidays, destination weddings abroad and gold purchases unless required, as part of his appeal for greater economic self-reliance.
He said the country needed to maintain the pace of growth and continue working towards becoming self-reliant, adding that the government’s policies were sound and its intentions clear.

The Indian economy grew by 7.8 per cent in the April-June quarter of the 2026-27 fiscal year, according to the figures cited in the report.
The growth was slower than the 8.6 per cent recorded in the previous quarter but remained stronger than expectations amid global economic uncertainties. (JKNS)
