Note: Engineering Degree can be B.E./B.Tech./B.Sc. Engg. Candidates with a 5-year integrated B.E./B.Tech. + M.E./M.Tech. dual degree in the relevant discipline are also eligible. Candidates with a 5-year integrated B.E./B.Tech. + MBA or B.E./B.Tech. + M.Sc. are also considered, provided the final percentage meets the notified criteria. Candidates with an engineering degree in a branch/discipline other than those listed above are not eligible. Only full-time regular courses from UGC-recognized/AICTE-approved institutions are considered.
Minimum Qualifying Percentage & Passing-Year Conditions
General, EWS and OBC (NCL) candidates: minimum 65% marks in the Bachelor’s degree in Engineering.
SC/ST/PwBD candidates: minimum 60% marks (a 5% relaxation), applicable only against posts reserved for SC/ST/PwBD. SC/ST/PwBD candidates applying against unreserved posts are assessed under general merit standards with no relaxation in minimum qualifying percentage.
No rounding off of marks is allowed (e.g., 64.99% is not treated as 65% for UR category).
Eligible candidates: those who completed their Bachelor’s degree in Engineering in 2026, OR those currently in the final year (2026–27) of their Engineering degree course.
Candidates who completed their Engineering degree in 2025 or earlier are not eligible to apply.
Final-year candidates must have secured the minimum prescribed percentage (65%/60% as applicable) in aggregate up to the last semester/year examination at the time of applying, and must submit the final degree certificate (or at least a provisional certificate) and all semester/year mark sheets confirming the minimum prescribed percentage by 31 August 2027.

Selection Process :
GAIL will use GATE-2027 marks (not GATE 2026 or earlier) to shortlist candidates for Executive Trainee recruitment.
Eligible candidates must first register for and appear in GATE-2027 in the relevant paper corresponding to their discipline (see Posts & Disciplines table above).
After downloading the GATE-2027 admit card, candidates must separately apply online on the GAIL website, indicating their GATE-2027 Registration Number. Applications without a valid GATE-2027 registration number will be rejected.
Based on GATE-2027 marks and requirement, candidates will be shortlisted for the further selection process for the Executive Trainee position.
Further details of the selection process (e.g., group discussion/interview stages, if any) are not specified in this notification and are expected in the February 2027 detailed advertisement.
How to Apply for GAIL Executive Trainee (GATE-2027)
Register for and appear in GATE-2027 as per the instructions and timelines notified by the GATE-2027 Organizing Institute, in the GATE paper corresponding to your discipline.
Download your GATE-2027 admit card with registration number once activated, from the official GATE website.
Visit the “Careers” section of the GAIL website: https://gailonline.com.
Apply online, indicating your GATE-2027 Registration Number, within the application window: 17 February 2027, 11:00 AM to 18 March 2027, 6:00 PM.
Apply for only one post/discipline; applications for more than one post/discipline will not be considered.
Important: No other means or mode of application will be accepted. Applications without a valid GATE-2027 registration number will be rejected
Documents/Certificates Required (at Selection Process Stage)
GATE-2027 admit card and registration number
Final Engineering degree certificate (at least provisional) and mark sheets of all semesters/years, confirming minimum prescribed percentage, to be submitted by 31 August 2027
SC/ST caste certificate in the prescribed Government of India format
OBC (Non-Creamy Layer) certificate in the prescribed format per DoPT Memo No. 36036/2/2013-Estt.(Res.) dated 30-05-2014, issued in the year of advertisement, plus a self-undertaking of OBC (NCL) status at the time of the selection process
EWS candidates: latest Income & Asset Certificate (format per DoPT OM No. 36039/1/2019-Estt.(Res) dated 31.01.2019), valid for financial year 2026-27, based on income/asset verification for FY 2025-26, submitted at the time of the selection process
PwBD disability certificate as per the format prescribed by the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment vide notification No. G.S.R. 591(E) dated 15.06.2017, for candidates with specified disability of 40% or more
CGPA/OGPA/CPI-to-percentage equivalence certificate from the University/Institute, where applicable
Pre-Employment Medical Examination report in the prescribed format, from a Central/State Government Hospital (minimum District Hospital status) or a GAIL-nominated empanelled hospital
