Free public transport travel approved for differently-abled persons in J&K
Srinagar, Sept 16: The Jammu and Kashmir Government on Wednesday sanctioned free travel for differently-abled persons on public transport, fulfilling a key Budget announcement made in March this year.
The Office of Chief Minister Omar Abdullah said in a post on X, as per the news agency Kashmir News Observer, the facility will cover Jammu and Kashmir Road Transport Corporation (JKRTC) services, as well as e-buses operated by Jammu Smart City Limited and Srinagar Smart City Limited.
“Fulfilling a key Budget announcement made in March this year, the Government has sanctioned free ridership for differently-abled persons in public transport,” the Office of the Chief Minister said in the post.

It added that the facility will cover JKRTC services as well as e-buses operated by Jammu Smart City Limited and Srinagar Smart City Limited.
“Congratulating Transport Minister @satishsharmajnk on the initiative, the Chief Minister said it reflects the Government’s commitment to social justice and marks an important step towards ensuring greater accessibility, ease of travel and inclusive mobility across Jammu and Kashmir,” the post reads.—(KNO)
