JKBOSE Class 12 Subject Change & Eligibility Rules Amended

Class 11 Corresponding Subjects No Longer Mandatory

The Jammu & Kashmir Board of School Education has amended the provisions regarding passing corresponding subjects at Class 11 in cases of subject change/eligibility candidates of Class 12.

The amendment applies to the following cases:

1. Candidates migrating from other recognized Boards
   Candidates who have already passed Class 11 from a recognized Board and seek admission to Class 12 in a JKBOSE-affiliated school can take admission without being required to pass corresponding subjects in Class 11, even if those subjects do not coincide with subjects offered by JKBOSE within the same stream.
2. Candidates changing subjects within the same stream
   Candidates already studying in Class 12 in JKBOSE-affiliated schools/institutions who change one or more subjects within the same stream will not be required to pass the corresponding changed subjects in Class 11, provided the subject change is otherwise permitted under the Board’s rules and scheme of studies.

Other Conditions

The relaxation remains subject to fulfillment of all other:

• Eligibility conditions
• Admission rules
• Subject combinations
• Academic requirements prescribed by JKBOSE

The amendment is applicable to such cases from the Academic Session 2025–2026 onwards.
